loud oven fanI bought this model a few years ago. We were replacing a slide in GE which we were happy with for about 12 years until the electrical touch pad died. Anyway, since we had to have a slide in I thought another GE would work just as well. What I found out when shopping for GE slide ins was that my old stove was a lot more attractive then the current slide ins being offered. The new stove has two weird looking elements in the middle of the burners. They're both covered in unattractive looking metal mounds. One of them is a vent and I don't know what the other is. My old stove had a vent that ran along the back of the stove and was very low profiile. The new stove has grates that coveres the entire cook top so you have to take them off (very heavy) to clean thecooktop. My old stove had a sealed glass cooktop that allowed me to clean around the burners without lifting up the grates. But the most annoying thing about this stove is the fan that comes on whenever you use the oven. It's rather loud and when you turn off the oven the fan is still running for another hour. The noise makes you think the oven is still on which worries me so much that I never leave the house until the fan goes off.
