Kenmore Electric Cooktop is a compliment to your kitchen April 06, 2011
We have this cooktop and we are very pleased with it. The various burner sizes can fit just about any size pot or pan. One burner has a choice of large or small size heating area depending on what you are cooking,
The burners heat up very quickly and stay hot a while after turned off. Very important to know when in use or when it has been used. Just so you won't set something on it by accident while still hot.
The only think that I don't really like and you get use to it is when cooking - food, water or spill overs burn on the burner. It does come clean. But I have found that you have to use the cleaner specially made for cooktops, baking soda, liquid scratch free cleanser or a combination to clean the burnt on stuff. And don't forget - good old fashion elbow grease - sometimes you really have to rub and scrub to get some burnt on items off.
But having such a nice and easy to use cooktop out weighs the cleaning issues. Yes, I would recommend this unit. We all love it!

Do not buy! November 26, 2008
When we first got this cooktop, two of the burners seems to take a long time to heat up. I should have had it serviced, but didn't and after 14 months, bother burners stopped working. My husband also dropped a pan on the stove (not hard and not from a significant height) and it shattered one side of it. We have had the cooktop for less than 2 years and it is ruined. We could repair it, but just the parts would cost $475. Our cooktop did not last and was a total waste of our hard earned money.

Instant even heatHad it installed by Sears just yesterday so I have only limited usage and experience.. It is an elegant and well-allocated cooktop. Seems to heat up immediately and responds to the variable heat settings well. Wipes clean with soap and water. So far no problems and no issues. I like it very much. ZRP ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I had given my initial impression on first acquiring this cooktop. Now that I have used it for about two months I have nothing but raves to add !! It heats up instantaneously and evenly. It has infinite choices of heat settings and plenty of plate sizes to work with. To top it all it has a clean, elegant design. Higher priced brand-name cooktops may have added bells and jingles but I doubt they function any better. I am very pleased with my choice of this item...(and I had done a lot of research before having it installed by Sears). ZRP

The Salesman was fantastic. We had a GE profile glass cooktop break and were looking for a replacement. We have granite counters and didn't want to have to break out the grinder. He found us the perfect replacement, exact width and within 1/8" depth. Installation was simple and it works better than the GE ever did. Good old Kenmore, good ols Sears. Be it tools, clothing or appliances you guys have never disappointed our family for 35 years. Thanks!

CleaningMy wife and I enjoy the beauty and clean look of the appliance. With that said it also heats instantly and has even cooking with good flat bottom cookware. It does clean up very nicely but you must stay on top of it, meaning after it cools clean it with the Sears cleaning creme that is supplied.
