    Kenmore Double Oven Was The Right Oven at the Right Price! April 27, 2011

    Looked at a lot of ovens, but I kept coming back to this one. This oven has all the important stuff, and the deal was incredible. Our previous oven was still working, but it was time to upgrade to stainless steel, so we bit the bullet. We were really impressed with the self cleaning features and upscale look of this oven, and it installed very easy. We have had really good luck with Kenmore in the past, and we're off to another great start with this oven. Highly recommend this unit so far. The Sears rep at the loading dock also did a great job in loading it for me, and was prompt as well.

    Worst oven ever February 14, 2011

    Before purchasing this oven I did extensive research and determined that for the price and features this oven was a good purchase. Was I ever wrong. It takes almost one hour to preheat - although the "at temperature bell" sounds after 7 minutes - to have a chance of a successful bake. Once the bell went off, the oven temperature was 275 (350 was the selected temperature.) The temperature continued to increase until it had reached 410, which took 25 minutes. It then slowly decreased to 320, which took another 20 minutes. Eventually, the oven will keep a temperature of between 325 and 375. Baking cookies with a bake time of 12 minutes is impossible. As I write this review I am waiting for Sears to come for repairs. I don't feel real confident since Sears has already missed 3 scheduled appointments. I am retirement age and have been purchasing Sears products for years and years. NEVER AGAIN!!!!!!!

    We decided to update our wall oven and found that for the just a bit more money we were able to get a kenmore double wall oven. I installed it myself and found the instructions for instalation to be complete and well written. During the Holiday feasts it was nice to be able to have all the dish's done at the same time, including the rolls! So much nicer to have a oven that heats evenly and much faster than the old JenAir. It has enough room inside to handle a 23 pound turkey with out having to worry about it getting to done on the bottom. The control panel is easy to read and has the options you need to complete any cooking requirements, we are able to set the timer to start cooking and at the end of the cooking time, we can set it to keep the meal warm without over cooking it!

    takes forever to heat to temperature

    When we remodeled our kitchen 1 year ago, we spent lots of time researching double ovens and found this one had the best value for the features and sears had it 50% off. Now I would rather have spent the money towards a more expensive brand. This oven takes 10-12 min to heat to 375 degrees while our old GE oven would be up to temperature before I could get a pizza ready to go in the oven. After cooking a messy meal and a year of gunt building up, I decided to run the self cleaning feature. Within 5 minutes, we had a house full of smoke and ready to pass out from the fumes. One thing all the self cleaning ads fail to mention, but in the user manual is to have your windows open. I've never had a self cleaning oven which required the windows to be open in the house. The reason for the smoke is that there is a fan which always runs when the oven is on which serves as a great heater in the winter but horrible for having family and friends over in the summer. I assumed that the oven cleaning cycle would be smart enough to turn off the fan but I guessed wrong. Did I mention the sound of the fan? It runs for at least an hour after using the oven and has a bit of a whistle. Just because you think it looks pretty doesn't mean it works good!
