defective switch right out of box!
I purchased a Kenmore cooktop, this range hood, and a Kenmore dishwasher at Sears during a recent sale. After the install, I was very dissapointed to find the fan switch was defective. I called Sears, and a service man came out to confirm the bad switch. A new switch was ordered and sent out to my house, and a second service call was scheduled to install the replacement (about 2 weeks total).
On the upside, the unit appears to be well made other than the controls. I like the way it extends over the front of the cooktop, and the fan runs fairly quiet with good power.

At a certain low speed my old hood fan, even when new, would go into resonance and tend to rattle the wall. This fan runs smoothly at all speeds. The back panel, fan cover, and top of the hood are not stainless steel.

SEARS is going Down Hill FAST
The first time I bought this, when I opened the Box at the Store there was an OLD USED RETURNED Range Hood inside the box, SEARS wasted 4hrs of my time that day and said NOTHING. Good that I opened the so called SEALED Box, as I was to told, before I drove 20 miles to the store. The second time I bought this, I ordered it online and picked it up when I removed it from the BOX - it is the CHEAPEST looking piece JUNK for $250.00 - I returned it.
