We purchased this stove to replace our 24 year old electric stove. Wow.... were we surprised at the look and efficiency of the new gas stove. The oven preheats in minutes and the quick boil burner on top is great. The stainless steel and black finish is very nice !

A good performing gas range with 5 burners and many features March 19, 2010

We had a 30" slide in Kitchen Aid with 4 burners, a convection oven and a touch pad control. The unit was about 10 years old and had issues with the touch pad - didn't work without first wetting your finger!! Also the burner output was low and the oven was quite small and very slow to heat up.

We reviewed and searched many sources but finally decided on  free standing 30" GE Profile with twin ovens in stainless steel. We passed on the stainless steel top, a $500 adder and have instead the black enamel. It was the only unit in gas that had the features we wanted:convection and conventional oven, 5 burners, a range of burner outputs; sealed burners, self cleaning and a large enough cast iron level cooking grate surface to accomidate large diameter pots and pans. On our old Kitchen Aid the grates were small and large pans/pots could not be centered on the burner without overhanging the range. The Kitchen Aid had lots of wasted space that is neatl filled with the GE Profile's center oval burner.

We have had the unit for about 3 months and are entirely satisfied. The oven is larger that the Hotpoint's and the second oven, although small, is quit handy. It can be used to keep food warm as an example. The burners output varies from low ( 5,000 BTU on the right rear) medium(6,00 btu oval central) medium high (9,100 btu on the rear left) high (11,000 front left) and very high (17,000 btu front right). The central burner has a cast iron grill that replaces the center grate. When making bacon it is a bit messy although there is a grease depression in front to catch run off.

The oven performs well and heats very quickly in both conventional and covection modes. We cook and bake a lot and the oven has performed very well. The controls are easy to use although we have yet to use the self cleaning feature but given how th rest of the unit operates I would expect good performance here.

One concern with a free standing range was how it would look in the cutout where the slide in once was. Well we removed a small ledge from the slide in installation and the unit looks great. The only issue is that you have to reach across the range surface to change oven settings which can be a problem if you have the range in operation.

The purchase was a lot less costly than some of the high end ranges but we got good performance and looks for thousands less. We are satisfied and hope this review helps you.
