GE  Profile™ Series 30'' 1.7 cu. ft. Combination Microwave Oven w/ Convection Oven (PVM1790)

We installed this a couple days ago. I have already used not only the microwave function but the convection stove function as well. I made my yeast rolls and they came out perfect! This is a great option for things such as this as my oven was busy roasting a duck at a different temp. I wish it had a couple of functions that wold have made it a 5 out of 5 for me. First I really wanted a butter warmer and an earlier model had this. Second it would be perfect if it had a bread proofing setting, seems like it would be easy enough to incorporate it. The reason I gave it 4 out of 5 on appearance is because for some odd reason when I see it out of my peripheral vision the curve on the door glass makes it look like the door is open. It is a very strange optical illusion. My husband who is taller noticed the same thing!

GE Profile has made many great features available on this model that were not there on my last model. I chose this one for its appearance inside and out. I love having the convection option to serve as a second oven. I have also ordered a new GE Profile bottom feezer french door refrigerator to replace an older model. Hope to get matching stove in the near future.

There are two features of this microwave that I hate, and they are encountered with each and every use. 1. you select time with a knob instead of with the keypad. This is different than all the other microwaves we've owned and I think it is much less convienent and less flexible since the knob works in 15 second increments. 2. After each use (except for the lowest time increment of 15 sec) you have to hit the cancel button to stop the extra time option to stop scrolling across the screen. And why wouldn't you need this on the lowest time setting? And the extra time setting is fixed at about 8 seconds. What good is an extra 8 seconds after a 3 minute cycle? Granted, once you get used to these idosyncracses, you learn to live with the unit, but be aware of these "features" because they are not highlighted in the sales literature. Nevertheless, the quality and apparance of the unit is good, and others may not be put off by the ":quirks"

We live in an RV Full Time and we replaced the micro/convection oven that came with it to this GE Profile Micro/Convection Oven. We have been using it now for 6 months and in that time I believe we have only used the regular oven in the RV 1 or 2 times. This GE Profile Micro Convection Oven has done it all. Baking, Roasting, Microwaving, it has worked impeccably and we would HIGHLY Recommend this to any one interested in great quality and performance.

Purchased this product in Sept 2012. Works well. However the key pad is poorly designed from a viewing perspective. The lettering is extremely difficult to read against the black backround. It does not light up and cannot been seen at all unless the overhead lighting is on. This is extremely annoying. I need to put on my reading glasses as well. Additionally, another poor design is the "stainless steel" handle. It peels from the heat given off by the high output burner just below which is also a GE stainless steel stove. Now the door has to be replaced after only 5 months of use. I was told by the tech that this will continue to happen. Hope GE has enough doors in stock to keep replacing. I would not recommend this appliance because of these 2 design flaws.

We have not had a problem with this microwave and do not think we will. It looks great in our new kitchen and so far has worked great. Love the stainless interior, makes it much easier to clean. Price was higher than we wanted to pay but would not trade it back.

We got this microwave to match our other Profile appliances Works great, just does not make good popcorn like our older microwave Handle gets hot if the gas burner is in use Wish there was a way to set exact min/sec to cook rather than in increments of 15 sec (you can do that after the cooking has started)

We did the self install that we found fairly easy. The only problem was getting the fan in the correct position. I think it was actually in the right position and the instructions showed how to turn for under cabinet. After installation we figured this out so I would suggest checking the fan by plugging it in before wall installation. As far as the oven/microwave I have really enjoyed it and it cooks well. Our regular oven is currently broken so we have been using this smaller over and it has worked great for the both of us. I love the ability to use this as an oven or microwave.

This GE Profile convection/microwave has a lot of nice features, does the job, doesn't have "hot" spots, and is quite handsome, but it isn't the easiest to use. I read the manual when it was first installed a year ago, but have had to reread some sections for seldom used functions. It's not very intuitive. Some everyday functions require several steps to work. The keypad will indicate what button to push next. Annoying when you're in a hurry. I also wish it had a lighted keypad. I even put a small piece of tape over one of the frequently used functions so I would not have to turn on the overhead light in the evening. Also, the filter pops out and falls on the stove if you accidentally hit it when you are cleaning. These are annoying but minor issues.
