Love my stove. I've had it a year this month and I have absolutely no complaints. Watch out when you clean it though, the fumes can be a little overwhelming. But I've had the same issue with past self cleaning ovens, too. The next time I set it to clean will be in the summer when we can leave all of the windows and doors open to air the place out. Other than that the stove and oven have been very dependable. The oven cooks evenly and in accordance to all recipes I have cooked in it they've come out perfect. I bought the gas model in black and the finish has held up fine.

As the other report has stated this electronic board is defective. It overheats when the back range or central range is used, as a couple of repair technicians have confirmed. We are now replacing it a second time. Save yourself the trouble.... It looks like we will need to replace it a couple of more times before the manufacturer will allow for a replacement.

I am just scheduling the forth repair on this stove since I bought it! The controls will melt if you use the upper oven or the back burners
love to cookThis oven really is dangerous! We purchased it in 12/08 after moving to a new home. I had previously had a double wall oven and absolutely loved it. There was not enough space in our current kitchen so we made the compromise of a range/double oven combo. For about 10 months it was great, then the control panel warped and malfunctioned. It was replaced as it was under warranty. At the time of repair, we purchased the master protection agreement. It again malfunctioned while I was making chicken broth for a party 4/10(I was using both back burners). After that repair, I took caution not to use both back burners at the same time...rediculous right? Even with that babying, it again malfunctioned again in 8/11. This time the lower oven would turn itself on if you were cooking on the stove top. We argued our safety concern, but were told that they remedied the problem when they replaced the control panel and that we could not have a replacement. Now, only 3 weeks later, boiling water did it again! I made another appointment scheduled for 2 days later. The next morning we awoke to a smell...the broiler was on! We had to turn off the breaker at that point. I am now awaiting the Sears technician hopefully they will finally get the point that replacing the control panel is not good enough, it is going to happen again.
Our 30" Kenmore double oven gas range became defective where the control panel went into a locked / off (Oven doors locked) condition while only using the top burners. Service call was placed and the tech replaced the control panel ($521.71). During the service call he indicated that this was a common failure due to a design flaw where the control panel cannot withstand the heat from the burners. This observation is backed up by similiar customer feedback on the Sears My Community website. It also appears that the control panel has been redesigned on the latest models. I am disappointed to incur a large repair bill on a range just over 1 year old. This puts me in a very unsatisfying position where my only options are to purchase a $129/yr Extended Warranty or use only the front burners of the 5 burner stove. I cannot afford the extended warranty on top of the repair bill, so I will restrict my use of burners to the front in an effort to avoid exposing the control panel to normal cook top heat. I would like to ask Sears to consider replacing my stove with the latest models which appear to have addressed this design flaw or extend my warranty for this part.
