Fast cooking and great features!! May 02, 2007

With this range you can get all the heat you want, from a small 5000 BTU burner all the way up to the big 18,000 BTU monster in the center. That one brings a huge oval pot of cold water to a boil in a hurry, or you can use sections of the big burner as smaller burners! And the griddle that fits over it eliminates the need for having an additional pan on top for eggs or pancakes. The oven's convection feature is great for evenly cooking a 26-pound turkey, which you would have to keep rotating in a conventional oven. And the outside of the range stays cool even after baking for 5 hours! The warmer drawer keeps quicker-cooking items at the right temperature for as long as you need. Cleanup is very simple because everything comes off the top of the range, leaving a smooth surface to wipe down. The grates can all go into the dishwasher. And the oven self-cleans, so that's a snap! I won't even go into all the convenient electronic features, except to say that you can set timers just about any way you need, and the oven even adjusts its temperature down to compensate for convection. Like I said, this wonderful range is loaded with features!

    What a disappointment! August 01, 2007

Ordered this from Sears first one came and was dented Sears took it back no problem. Sent the next one, we moved into our house and used the convect convert for the first time last night. Salesman told us it did this wonderful convection convert and converts the time...which it does but it doesn't tell you how long you have left, ie. I type in the time and temp for a regular receipe and then hit convect convert and it converts it for you but it doesn't tell you the amount of time that it converts it to just gives you a beep when it is 75% of the way through and no equation for figuring out a possible time in the manual either. Beautiful looking stove top is great, oven is great but the convection convert it a major disappointment which was the selling point. When I called Sears they told me to call the help line which I did and they walked us through step by step but it doesn't tell the time you need. I called sears back they put me to customer service, customer service transfered me to...are you sitting down..get this...DELIVERY! I am truly disappointed in Sears and Kenmore. My confidence in them has completely gone out the window.

Great range for the money February 25, 2009
    via Sears.com
By tdog of Black River Falls, WI

My wife and I bought this stove about a month ago after comparing many different brands and reading many reviews. We are very happy with our decision to purchase this one. The oven bakes well (nice, evenly-browned cookies anywhere in the oven without turning the cookie sheets when using convection bake), we love the cast iron grates and the 100% usable cooktop space, and the top is very easy to keep clean too. The center oval burner is a very nice design allowing you to use the whole burner or just the back or front - really like a six-burner stovetop but in the space of a standard four-burner. Quality seems up to Kenmore's usually high standards, and delivery and setup went smoothly. The only negative thing I can find on this stove is that the supplied griddle for the stovetop is rather small. You can only fit three eggs, or two grilled cheese sandwiches or two normal size pancakes on it at one time. A typical large frypan would do as well. I have a larger griddle which fits very nicely on the center burner and gives me more cooking area, so I use that instead. A small complaint, really, but that center burner's just BEGGING for a large griddle! Overall, though, we are pleased with our purchase and find this range to be a professional performer on a mainstream budget. Highly recommended!!

    Satisfied January 28, 2009

Using it now for more then 2 months. I enjoy cooking, and we cook for a family of 7. All the basics are there, but several main items combined to make this my choice. This unit has the largest oblong burner that i've seen, plus you have two control settings for the burner, and I use that capability quite a bit, as i like cooking on large griddles. The grates are heavy duty and will easily accept the cast iron cookware i prefer. With 5 kids, there are spills, and this unit cleans up easily; along with that, the raised lip around the burner units, keeps the spills up on top rather then letting it get down inside. The simmer burner works excellent for recipes requiring low heat. A major suprise and benefit; this was first time using convection oven and i'm still very surprised at how much it reduces baking time. Only downside is the oven "heat zones". there are noticeable differences in heat levels at the lowest rack compared to the top rack, and that's with the convection option applied. The only time you will really notice this, is when you are trying to cook with all the racks. Tried cooking 3 cookie sheets at once and i had to really watch it. Perhaps there's a trick to it that i haven't figured out yet. bottom line: i would easily recommend this to anyone, from beginner to avid chef. We had initially set a target of $2200 to buy a stove that met my specs, and i'm extremely happy to have this one, at a significant savings. if i could, i would rate it at 4.8

    Excellent Range! January 19, 2009
    via Sears.com
    By Cookie629 of Chicago

I love my new range. I especially love the middle burner. I always felt as though the middle space was wasted space, but no more! The griddle is awesome. We have used it for eggs, pancakes, grilled cheese sandwiches, and french toast. Love it! The reason for only 4 stars: The only thing that bothers me is the fact that it did not come with the broiler pan and roasting rack that is vital to convection cooking. There is an order form inside for a "free" set. However, one must pay $9.95 for shipping and handling and wait 6 to 8 weeks. Ummmm, really? Couldn't it just have come with the range since it is used for the convection part? Other than that, it is a great range.

As close to professional as you can get! January 13, 2009

Where to start - I purchase from Sears primarily because they take care of their employees who are called up for military duty. Options/prices was the secondary reason for final purchase decision. Thank you to the other people who took the time to post your comments - your comments about this range were a large part of my consideration on final three choices. I spent hours researching and reading reviews. What I love about the range - warming drawer gets up to about 150 degrees, perfect for warming plates or keeping a pie warm, ready for ice cream on top! Also, I LOVE the cast iron instead of porcelin coated burner grates - no worries about chipping. Sealed burners are wonderful, making clean up a breeze!! Oven is very large, broiler feature is great and having 3 racks is a plus. Also love the convection feature!! This range has about all you need until you go up to "professional" model (and price!!) The griddle was included and it was the first thing we used - absolutely LOVE the cast iron griddle! Next item we made ws a huge pot of chili - it is great to be able to slide the big pot around the burners without having to pick it up! Bringing a pot of water to boil w/power burner - a FLASH. It is amazing how quick the water boiled. I also LOVE the simmer burner - I've always disliked gas because you can't simmer anything LOL. Now I can - made rice, moved it over to simmer burner after boil and it worked exactly as it should - no burnt/dired out rice in bottom of pot! One con - the stove vent (on top) does throw off more heat than I expected but around the stove is very cool - nicely insulated. We purchased the stainless steel/black - a little bit more work keeping clean but the professional look of the range makes it worth it! We considered the 2 oven option but didn't like how low you have to bend to use larger, lower oven. A feature I'd like to see on this range is the easy glide oven racks - those are cool and the one thing I wanted but didn't get in this model. Another plus - the large, center burner works as one, two or three burners - you can individually operate the burners. (not spelled out in spec/info page). Finally, the oven came up to temp (350) in about 7-8 minutes - I noticed some comments said it took longer... Simply put, this range is as close to a professional model as you can get, without the associalted price tag! Absolutely worth every penny in my opinion!! Plus Sears has given me years and years of standing behind their products - that is INVALUABLE! (2 riding mowers, 1 fridge, 1 deep freezer, elec range for rental property plus a washer & dryer!) Yes, worth every penny!
