    Purchased in Jan. 2008 February 20, 2008

Could be a five star but haven't used every single feature. What I have used is great. Easy to clean and the extra glass in the door is a great safety feature especially for children as it never gets hot. Love the simmer burner and steaks come out great using the searing grill and broiler. Use the warming drawer all the time . What isn't so great is trying to get in touch with a person to ask a question regarding function- the menu is ridiculous. I had a question concerning the noise the convection fan makes and was told that the earliest a service person would "be in my area" to determine if I did have a problem would be two weeks!!! What would you do if your stove or oven wasn't working at all? I thought that was outrageous.

Broke down without anyone to repair. September 03, 2008

I bought this oven because of its features. They are great with the exception of the main board going out. It took 2 months to schedule a technician to come out!! Problem 2. The glass door lets anything drip inside where you cannot clean or service the glass. Sears knows about this problem and says it is not under warranty. They give you a matter of fact you shouldn't spill anything on your stove policy. ARE THEY FOR REAL!!!?? Also they went on to say if you tried to take it apart yourself it would void the warranty. This darn thing always looks dirty! I HATE IT! (Can you say break with a hammer for new clean glass that will be under warranty?)

    Well designed 5-burner range January 16, 2012
    via Community Review

    Pros:
    5 burners for normal pans,Grate supports pans anywhere,large oven- 3 shelves,warming drawer
    Cons:
    A few minor annoyances

We have had our 790-7942 range for several years, and are still pleased by our choice. The 5 burner (2 regular, 1 simmer, 1 large, and 1 larger) configuration is useful for pans of all sizes. Too many 5 burner configurations have oval bridge burners for the griddle. In normal cooking it is useless. This one has a normal center burner, and a griddle that fits over the left burners, and works nicely. As noted by others, it is shallow, and not suitable for greasy foods like bacon, but is good for pancakes. We have not tried to use the flipside, which is convoluted for grilling? The grate is well designed to provide stable support for even smaller pans, almost anywhere. Other brand grates do not allow you to move a small pan away from the flame. As also noted the black surface is challenging to keep looking nice. The large oven has 3 racks for baking versatility. One even has a lift out section to accomodate tall items. The outer edges above the flame slots are hotter, and can burn on the bottom rack. We use convection frequently. The warming drawer gets plates a bit too warm to hold on the low setting. The bread proofing setting is more gentle. Unfortunately the drawer would be better for bread proofing if it were deeper. On the whole it is a very good product and stands above some more expensive competitors.
