I installed it several weeks ago, and thus far it's worked very well, TBD as to it's longevity. Got it retail at a local Sears for a little under $300 during a 20% off sale (and we've no sales tax here in Oregon). I installed it myself without too much trouble other than checking my measurements three times each to make sure things were accurately done. It is manufactured by Samsung and ours was made in Malaysia. It replaced a 13-year old Goldstar (Korea) made Kenmore that had given us reliable service over the years (that unit "came" with the new house). The 400 CFM fan was one feature wanted. It's the same feature promoted by Samsung on their own branded OTR microwaves. On setting '5' (full blast) it is indeed noisy, but it REALLY blows really well. No comparison to the previous microwave, not even close. How well one's unit blows will probably vary depending upon how it's vented and the "backpressure" provided by the outlet path (shorter/bigger blows more, longer/smaller blows less). Ours is no more than a foot between the oven and the air being outdoors through a 7" opening. I've it blowing out the "top" so I did have to rotate the SINGLE fan that it has. The unit has two sets of blades, meaning there is a "squirrel-cage" on either side of a single fan motor with the shaft going out of it in both directions. Some may call this two fans, I'll call it one. Depends if one counts motors or squirrel-cages. It defaults to blowing back into the kitchen which seems useless (Samsung branded ones default to blowing "up" which is what I had changed mine to). Easy to change, so that's minor. The light complained about by some is fine with me, and it is located properly. It is located at the rear where it should be, because that is the area of the stove shaded by the microwave itself. In front of the microwave, our ceiling lights have no trouble keeping things lit. Also, the front underside is dominated by the huge fan intakes which is great for making that feature useful. We got the white version. The other versions that have the black touch-panel background looked hard to read (looking at them in the store). The white background of our unit makes them substantially more legible. Not great looking in an artistic sense (old one was better), but perfectly functional and readable. So, at least for the first few weeks it has been great.

This microwave is great! It defrosts & cooks food so much faster than my old one. The fan has a lot of power; settings 4 & 5 are loud, but good for getting steam/smoke out quickly. Levels 2 & 3 are good for every time use (they aren't too loud). However, the light might as well not even be there. It is so far back, that it only shines on the back of the stove, not at all on the burners. This is the only reason it didn't get 5 stars. I'm VERY disappointed in the lack of lighting :(, otherwise, if lighting isn't a big deal for you, a great buy!
Once loyal Sears customerWe should have read the reveiws. As the others after 26 months the keypad on our perfectly good microwave failed. Now the unit is useless. This replaced another sears microwave that was only 8 years old. Seems that Sears has given up quality products. We may never buy another Sears product.
<p style="margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; font: 12.0px Helvetica;">Installed 10 months ago with direct vent to outside. Overall I'm very happy with this microwave. The fan is amazing , but on it's highest setting it is very loud. Lower settings usually do the trick anyway. The defrost settings actually works without cooking have the meat. Plenty of auto buttons (potato, popcorn, veggies, etc) work great with auto-sensing so nothing over-cooks. The light is weak and won't elluminate you stove top, but I use it more a a nightlight (which you can program on/off times for). My only wish was the buttons were backlit or at least white text on a black background since they can be hard to read in low light.
Reads error code 5E all the time now. Nothing seems to help. Seems that many others have experience the same problem with this microwave. ****.
Needs to be ZERO star!! Heating unit stopped working 13 months after I purchased it. YES, 1 MONTH after the warrenty was expired. Also, have trouble with Kenmore fridge. WILL NOT BE BUYING ANYMORE KENMORE APPLICANCES!!!!!
