Best Thing to Happen to My Kitchen! June 07, 2008

This microwave/hood can do so much, and is so easy to use! You can cook almost anything in it... To test it out, I baked a batch of cookies in it and they were some of the best I've ever had! I "fry" sausage in it every morning for my kids (a feature called "sizzle pan"), I've grilled chicken and burgers, boiled water, softened butter, and of course, microwaved in it too. It cooks everything perfectly and has more features than I can even get my mind around. There's probably 50 preset food options (if not more) that allow you to choose the food type and quanity (i.e. kids food/hot dogs/4 hot dogs), which will preheat the microwave and/or pan (if necessary) to the correct temperature and time, all without having to think about it! You can even dedicate your most used features to "quick buttons", and it automatically updates them if you want. I use this as an oven ALL THE TIME... I couldn't be more thrilled with my purchase and give it 5 fully deserved stars.

Whirpool Velos Microwave/Convection Oven - Short Life Span May 14, 2010

In the 4 years that I had this oven it broke down twice, first still under warranty and the 2nd time, just after the warranty expired, the mother board broke down, the cost to repair... $600.00+; of course I am not nuts so I am now looking for a new microwave/convection oven with a better life span. They say it stainless steel but the truth is the SS is only a thin frame around the oven glass door with a plastic handle that brakes, I had to replaced it after 3 years and the SS looking coating on it peels off with the daily use. On the positive side, I loved the touch program screen, the oversize cooking capacity  and the sleek look but It is too expensive for a 4 year life span.

Too Many Service Calls March 22, 2009
    By Sal86 of Pittsburgh, PA

I've had this microwave serviced twice under warranty with the same F7 error code being reported. I'm a bit concerned that this could continue to be a problem even after the warranty is expired. I love the microwave when it's working. I wouldn't get too excited over the convection feature since it can take 15 minutes to preheat. I would give the microwave 4 stars if it never had to be serviced.

    Feature filled ... but ... March 07, 2009
    By Utekai of Chicago, IL

Sometimes when you pack in all the features, none work very well. Here the microwave seems to work well. The grill seems to work OK, but it's a light-heat grill and only 1500 watts, so it works, but not necessarily well. The convection oven works OK, but the heat up time seems ... well overly excessive to heat up. Not sure of the reason why. Wanted to bake a homemade pizza and chose to preheat, the oven estimated 16 minutes to preheat which is about enough time to get the pizza together, but then it held on 9 minutes left for about 20 minutes and seemed to not be heating up further. Here I just stuck in the pizza which never got cooked very well even though I added extra time to the end. The oven looks pretty good, though is quite a bit bigger than the last oven, as it sticks out more and particularly in back is much lower, however this does help with lighting and the hood function of air/odor extraction. Though again, somehow I thought the fan would be a little stronger, it does OK. I've not had the oven very long so can't comment on problems or longevity, but right now am middle of the road, somewhat disappointed yet willing to give it a try to get used to it.
