This Kenmore microwave oven is very quiet
This microwave was a replacement for a 10-year old unit that had developed a loud buzzing noise during cooking. This unit is exceptionally quiet, and features easy to understand controls. Mounting was a breeze, since the wall bracket already up fit the new unit exactly.
I truly doubt we will ever use the metal cooking rack that came with the unit. But we use our microwave for everything from popcorn to potatoes to reheating leftovers. This unit performs as expected. The chime noises when you press the keys are a bit strange-it almost sounds like a casino computer game. I guess we will get used to it in time. Makes perfect microwave popcorn!

Do your homework...
The microwave itself works just fine. We use it for warming rather than cooking so it is fine. However, the vent absolutely sucks and I don't mean that in a good way. Plenty of air comes out the top but I'm stumped where it is drawing it from as the steam, smoke, etc...is still cooped up underneath it. And if you actually wanted to see the cooking surface underneath it you'll need an auxiliary light source as the light is grossly under sized for the task. Wish I'd believed the other reviews.

After minimal use over the period of 18 months by 1 person only, the door latch broke, and if the door doesn't close securely, then the microwave will not start. After 2 weeks of waiting (1 consultation + 1 repair appointments), the microwave has been finally fixed. The door latch is a cheap piece of plastic, and I am pretty sure it will break again. Now I try to use it even less to avoid more breakage. The fan doesn't do much but slightly move the air around. This product is definitely not worth the price. The small inexpensive microwave (by Frigidaire) at my work-place has been used and "abused" for at least 7 yrs by about 20 people each day, and it is still working fine. Kenmore stinks! I will not be buying their **** anymore.

Kenmore/Sears is not a name you can trust anymore. It's all made out of plastic and the first year the clips that hold the control pannel broke, then I opend the door and wiped above the opening and the clips holding that piece broke. Now I have something rattling in the door, I'm sure it's another piece of plastic that broke off some whereA? Doesn't anyone stand by their products anymore...........I think that's how they make their money is by selling you the extended waranty!

Not the 1981 model but will do the job.
As Microwaves go this is a good choice and I would buy it again and recommend it to my friends. We replaced a Sears Kenmore model from 1981. Same size but built in the USA with all the features that are available today except the turntable. The installation was easy but it also showed the poor quality of the new unit. It is vented out and the adapter is so flimsy that I saved the adapter from the old unit in case there is a problem. The color and price was right and it looks good and works well. No complaints,just observation of quality. We had many choices but this unit was best for us. Price was not a factor.
I would recommend this product to a friend.
