    9 months old and 3 repairs

    I bought the over the counter, convection microwave about 9 months ago.  I?ve had 3 service calls, one with replacement parts.  This appliance is a lemon but Sears? criteria for replacement is 3 service calls with parts in 90 days or 4 service calls with parts in 12 months.   I will be forced to spend the money on a service contract for this terrible appliance because it works sporadically.  The first service call to fix the problem of the microwave stopping in the middle of a cycle was ?fixed? by the service repair person showing us how to hold the upper right hand corner of the microwave door to make the cycle start again.  Both the sales people and the repair people are unfamiliar with how this appliance works.   The first repair man asked me if I had the manual so he could look at it.   One of the reasons I bought this expensive, $500, appliance was for the warm/hold feature.  This works like a warming drawer or so I thought.   Unfortunately you can't turn the turntable feature off when you use the warm/hold feature so you can't put an oblong baking dish in it, only a 9" round baking pan.   You also have to use a round rack when you use the convection bake feature.  You put your baking/roasting pan on top of the rack.   Unfortunately there isn't much clearance between the top of the food and the top of the inside of the oven so you can only roast a 3 1/2 lb chicken at most.  I haven't been able to use the convection feature much because it's currently not working.   I'd like to think that I just drew the short stick and got a lemon but my advice is do not purchase this appliance.  I gave this a 1-star rating because there isn't a selection for no stars.
