    The Kenmore Elite Microhood is fabulous April 08, 2011

    To begin, the exterior of the microhood is sleek and stylish; the interior lagre and lined with stainless steel shiny as a mirror. More importantly, there are multiple cooking/heating options: Cook, Reheat, Auto defrost, Warm and Hold, Soften/Melt, to name a few. My favorite option is Time Cook. You can select the desired time in 5 second increments and then set the power level, both done with the turn of a knob. Not to be forgotten, the micro's 1100 watts give quick results.

    Wouldn't change a thing about this appliance. Love it.

    falling out of love with this unit..... December 28, 2011

    Update -  four weeks in now - on our third unit and this one squeaks when running. Unit one had a rattle, unit 2 had a huge dent when it came out of the box. Unit 3 is in, and works well, other than the squeak. It's going to have to be replaced. Changing my rating to 1 star and won't recommend - too many hassles.

    With only 3 weeks of use, we love this so far. Reheating is great - the microwave senses the heat based on the steam - and it works perfectly.  Melting butter and chocolate for the holidays has been great. The reheat memory is good. One great positive is that the "beeps" can be turned off - a nice feature.  The only negative so far is that there is a constant "rattle". As a rsult, we're in the process of having this unit replaced, we'll see how it goes.  Other than that, it's been great so far.

    There are so many good things to say about this microwave. It holds your largest pan and has both the rotating plate and the slider so it takes both round and rectangular pans. It has a rack. And while it was working it was the best microwave I've ever had. But ...

    This is not a new Elite but you need to be prepared for what happens four or five years down the road. The first repair was nearly $500 and the second one was $580. Those repairs were not 6 mos. apart. Thank heaven I had bought the repair package that offered me a replacement if the repair was over $500. But is will be hard to find all the features I enjoyed. Oh, and be sure to buy the repair package. It's worth it.

    I purchased this microwave to replace my GE microwave that had gone bad. To summarize it is very elegant and worth every penny especially at this price. It is very funtional and useful.

    Our old GM spacemaker stopped working and we shopped around for microwave hood combinations. We did not want the very bulky ones that stick put of the cabinets and get too close to the range. Most of what we found that fit our space was also small inside and had low power. This one had the right dimensions and a large capacity (2.0 cu. ft.) and power (1100 watts). It is also very sleek and modern and looks great in our kitchen even though it is a traditional style. The door opens and closes smoothly. It is very spacious inside. The glass plate rotates and also moves from left to right to heat up the food evenly and faster. The hood is wonderful. It has 5 vent speeds and, surprisingly, the lower settings (1 and 2) are not loud yet often enough during cooking. My only complaint is that the installation instructions were confusing and it took me a couple more hours to finish the installation. I was lucky I had watched some eHow videos ahead of time. But this does not change my opinion of this microwave. It is awesome.
