For the past two years we've battled failing water pumps with this washer. We FINALLY had the same part break and replaced 4 times in a 12 month period so we are getting a new replacement washer from Sears (we will not be getting this same model). Not sure if there is underlying design flaw with the washer but there is no filter to prevent loose coins from falling out of the drum and into the water pump. Once the coins were lodged in the water pump it would make a horrendous sound during spin cycles until the coins busted the water pump. The only way we knew that the pump finally broke is because on the next wash cycle water would fill up our wash pan (due to the pump being busted).
We also have the matching dryer and have had countless problems with it as well. At least once a month, the dryer will stop functioning and display error F45. Overall both of these appliances have been a disappointment and we will never by Kenmore appliances again.
looking for energy savingsI love my new Kenmore Elite. I have had it for 3 months. I have the Navy blue washer & dryer pair. It has cut my washing in half. You are able to waher more clothes with less water.
a Kenmore loyalistI purchased in Jan. of 2008; have had four service calls. Mother board is being replaced again tomorrow (Sept. 17, 09, third time). I loved the machine at first, very quiet, cleaned well, large capacity. However as time wore on the noise increased, the UL's increased (uneven loads ??????) which stopped the machine quite frequently until I adjusted the load; it did not seem to matter what size the load. I don't know, I had my last Kenmore 13 years until the motor quit (less bells and whistles), I've had this less than two and its ready for the junk heap. Bigger tub, more money, fancier, more trouble. If you buy this machine do get the extended warranty, its worth every single penny.
convenience consciousI have only purchased a washer 2 other times and looking back I realize they were all average performers.
I did not realize what "poor" or "bad" was, until I did my very first load in this washer. Of course, I started to read the reviews written by others and just couldn't agree more.
My white towels were still grey in the areas that were grey prior to washing...what did I do? I washed it again, thinking surely I didn't do something right ! Well guess what...there was no improvement on the 2nd go around and the darn white towels were still grey !!!
Yes I read the instructions and no, the operation of it all was "not" rocket science...that is to say I am sure that this washer does not deliver and will make me miserable beyond believe.
I have had it for a total of 10 days, did 4 loads (none of which were full loads, more like half loads) and I have had to re-wash "every single load twice". Never was I happy with the end results even after the 2nd go around.
Oh..and by the way, someone mentioned that the dryer did not dry adquately? Well that was true too... I had to add time just to get the little bit that was there in the dryer to dry. My old dryer would have not required additional time.
Then I started thinking about the malfunctions that are mentioned by others that I soooo look forward to "not experience".
I returned "bad" (the dryer) and "horrible" (the washer) last nite and opted for a set of Whirpool cabrio.
We will see how they perform...soon.
