I have had this washer for about 6 weeks now and just love it. The tub is large enough to hold my king sized comforter with ease. In comparison to my old washer, it is not loud. The one I replaced sounded like a 747 on steroids. I wanted something with a large tub, that was energy efficient, and didn't have a lot of electronics. I got all that in this unit and am very pleased. The water level sensor works perfectly and the spin dry leaves the clothes relatively dry so that the dryer doesn't run very long. It has enough settings to please most and while I probably won't use use them all, the Bulky Items setting is one that was important to me as I like to wash all my bedding on a regular basis (including that king sized comforter I mentioned earlier). All in all, it is exactly what I wanted. I would recommend it to others.

I have been looking for the last two months and finally settled on this washer based on the reviews here. I was satisfied with the features, yet concerned about not having control of the water level. It was delivered yesterday and I have run a few loads with it. First and foremost, this think is LOUD. Everything works correctly, it is leveled properly and the spin cycle is not the issue. (Spin is actually the quietest cycle.) It sounds like there was no effort made whatsoever to insulate or reduce the noise in any way. The switches between each cycle are very loud and clunky, the pump to drain the tub is as loud as a leaf blower (A bit of a stretch, but almost) I just wonder what effect all this rough action will have on the longevity of the machine. I previously had a Kenmore 70 series washer for the last 10 years and this new unit is twice as loud as that was. On another note, I was concerned about the "auto load sensing" feature. I was assured that you could open the lid once the fill was complete as long as you stopped the machine first. I checked my first load and made sure to wait until the fill stopped, once it did, I paused the machine, and opened the lid. The water level looked OK at about half full, but then as soon as I started the cycle back up again, it proceeded to fill the tub all the way to the top. Don't let them fool you. You lose all control of the water level and cannot open the lid for any reason, even if you stop the cycle. I have only had it for two days now, but it looks like this one will be going back within the 90 day trial period. At least Sears has this option. That was the main reason for my choice to buy here.

want my money's worthI purchased this machine in April 2009 and the repair person just left about 10 minutes ago for the 2nd time in a month. The biggest problem I have is the machine will not fill. What happens is the machine "hums" and then will not fill with water. The repair person has come out twice and "jiggled" some things under the "hood" and it starts working again. Maybe because this thing shakes violently when spinning...
I agree with one of the previous reviews - the water level is no longer in your control. You waste an AWFUL lot of water if you have a small load - the machine will fill all the way to the top, whether you open the lid after loading or not!
I am online searching for a new machine although this one is still under warranty.
I just wanted to warn everyone not to purchase this machine.
Great washer for the price. I can wash many towels or jeans at a time, and my king comforters. Handles anything I put in there. I would definitely recommend this washer.
There are a lot of different settings. Great since I have a mechanic husband who gets VERY dirty a 6 year old who plays hard, a 6 month old baby and a dog. Does a good job with stains. I really feel like my clothes are clean when I take them out of there. We do a lot of laundry around here and the washer keeps up with ease.
Very, very quiet too, I have to lift the lid sometimes to make sure it is going because I can't even hear it.
looking for energy savingsThis is a solid machine with great features and good price. The "lid" situation is pretty clearly marked all over the instructions---keep it shut while it's working! It's the way it's made! So, that's what I do, and of course it works great. And, it's quiet.
The last Whirlpool lasted a good twelve years and then the one and only repair was pretty darn close to the price of a new machine, so I took the plunge b/c it was on sale and would do the job well. No complaints, only good things to say.
looking for energy savingsThe machine was working great, then water started leaking out from under the machine; had the machine almost 90 days. Called the 800 number and they said they would send someone out to fix it and it be no charge since it was still under the warranty (1 Year). They came out and said the seal around the pump was leaking so they put a new pump and seal on the machine. I'm hoping nothing else happens or if it does it happens before the 1 year warranty is up.
