An excellent dryer (Kenmore 5.9 cf electric-6942) for the price. February 06, 2011
This is a basic dryer which is exactly what I wanted. The price was very good, and it fits very well in my apt.'s laundry room. I find the choices of drying more than adequate, and the lack of a buzzer at the end of the cycle is a plus since I live do live in an apt. with neighbors beneath and beside me. I definitely recommend this dryer (and the companion washer).

wont dry large amounts of clothes February 23, 2010
I have owned this dryer for a little more than a year. I have a family and lots of clothes and towels that need to be washed and dryed. A load of towels, or jeans, or large load of clothes is a joke for this dryer. It will take over 3 full cycles (3 hours) to dry. Not worth the 350dollars plus tax I spent at sears. Maybe a single person with very small loads will not have a problem. If your a family man with lots of laundry, then dont waste your time and money with the Kenmore 400 series dryer. Trust me.........

will not dry large amounts of laundry.I owned this dryer for many a year while raising a family plus a man working every day in the shipyard and found it to be simple (Was told the less knobs, the less could break down) This dryer was a perfect example of just the fact of less is more, it worked hard with those less knobs for many years.
Especially along with the washer that goes with it, it worked very well.

No drum lightThis dryer DOES NOT HAVE A DRUM LIGHT. So it will be dark when you open the door. Otherwise it dries clothes and shuts off (so far) when you are finished. Get what you pay for. I just bought a cheap miners forehead light to use when I do laundry (kidding about the miners light).

I bought the Kenmore 5.9 cu. ft. Electric Dryer with the Kenmore 400 wash machine at the same time. Both the Kenmore 5.9 cu. ft. Electric Dryer with the Kenmore 400 wash machine work very well. The Kenmore 5.9 cu. ft. Electric Dryer with the Kenmore 400 wash machine are both very quiet. I use the Kenmore 5.9 cu. ft. Electric Dryer with the Kenmore 400 wash machine a couple times a week because I have a family of 5, two under the age of 2 and one teenager how plays alot of sports, skateboading, baseball, football. The Kenmore 5.9 cu. ft. Electric Dryer with the Kenmore 400 wash machine gets worked very hard and keeps ticking. I feel after 2 years the Kenmore 5.9 cu. ft. Electric Dryer with the Kenmore 400 wash machine still look and work like brand new. You don't need to spend more to get the quality in the Kenmore 5.9 cu. ft. Electric Dryer with the Kenmore 400 wash machine.
