I LOVE MY DRYER!!! September 28, 2009
I have had my HE3 set for about 7 weeks. My dryer is huge. I read my manual, then tried to dry a wool sweater on the rack. I wasn't brave enough to try one of my own, so used one of my husband's. It worked amazing well...no more stiff and stretched sweaters in my house. It's the best dryer I've ever had.

bad door latch design - can't start without manual sealing door December 08, 2009
I finally succumbed to the great Black Friday sales, and turned in my fine 26 year old Maytags for a new Sears Kenmore washer and dryer.
The next day, we couldn't get the dryer to go on, even though we kept holding the start button. It was beeping, but would not start.
We discovered that the design of the latching system on the door is a poor one. There are 2 small silver latches at the top and bottom of the door, however, when you close the door, not enough pressure is being applied to create a proper seal, since you are pushing at the handle, which is either on the left or the right.
If you push specifically on the top and bottom of the door after closing it, you can hear a snap, and then the dryer will work properly.
The real cause of this problem is the sensor switch located next to the top latch. If a proper seal is not made, this latch will not close and prevent the dryer from turning on.
If Kenmore were to use a different sensor with less pressure on the door, or perhaps a magnetic switch, this would not happen.
The most surprising thing is that the service department was quite familiar with the problem, and said that there have been several complaints and service calls about this.

I didn't realize that the front loader washers require quite a bit of maintenance; BUT this model does wash beautifully. I can deal with the maintenance. However, I am very disappointed with the performance of the dryer. I am experiencing problems with the latch design as well. The worst part of it is the fact that if I let my clothes sit in the dryer for even a few minutes, I cannot get the wrinkles out. I have tried the Dewrinkle feature and the Touch-up feature. It is creating more work because now I have to iron almost everything. The wrinkles just won't come out. I was expecting to upgrade from my old Kenmore dryer. I gave it away, and I am now kicking myself.

I purchased this item on black Friday at a great price. Got it delivered yesterday at 2pm....during its 2nd use I already got an F22 error code?? I completely read the manual front to back so I know its not user error. Immediately called Sears and they are sending someone out tomorrow, but still?? Not something you want to see after forking up a grand on a pair of washer and dryers. I would suggest doing a load while they are installing it because there could be a problem. I guess I will see after tomorrow when Sears makes a visit. I am still trying to be optimistic.... :/
