Stacking info September 12, 2008
If you intend to mount your dryer on top of a washer make sure to get a door reversal kit in addition to a stacking kit. This is because when stacked the doors for washer and dryer should both be hinged on the same side so that they will open in the same direction. As the washer door cannot be reversed, the dryer door must be reversed so they will both open in the same direction. The delivery person who normally installs the units will reverse the dryer door . If done without a door reversal kit the dryer will end up with an odd fitting plastic piece. My dryer arrived with the stacking kit, but no door reversal kit. I complained about the poor fitting plastic part to Sears. My Sears store manager was so kind as to pay for a service technician to deliver and install substitute plastic part which comes with the door reversal kit. Sears should have made the reversal kit available for purchase when I bought the dryer. It would have been easier.

Dryer was delivered inoperative. Sears installed the unit. Everything operates but it doesn't heat up. Gas is on and connected. Installers solution...call service! Called service and they said 1 week to get a repairman out. Called delivery to get a replacement dryer. Only then was a service call scheduled for the next day. During the install, installers did not apply sealant to the gas connections nor did they check for any leaks. Also, they only "slid" the dryer hose over the connection but did not take the time to secure the clamp. Only 1 warranty card for the dryer was supplied (no card for matching washer) - good thing the internet exists.

Excellent Dryer! May 11, 2008

This is a very large dryer that performs superbly. Prior reviewers seemed to have received bad units. We've had no such issues. The unit dries excellent, dust creation is minimal, it is super quiet, and very efficient -switching from my old (2000 model) GE washer/dryer to the new Duets's has cut our electricity bills monthly compared to the same electricity last year even though this year I also have another refridgerator in the house.

This has to be the most efficient dryer ever. Take your clothes out of the washer and place them on top of the dryer, wait three days and your clothes are dry. The dryer has electric and gas hooked up but the only thing that works is the drum light. I doubt the heat from the drum light is enough to dry a load of clothes. I scheduled Sears service they said they'd arrive between 8-12. It's after 12 and no service technician. This isn't the first time I've had problems with Whirlpool but it sure is the last.
