Kenmore 27 in. Laundry Center 9781 works well so far August 19, 2010
I've had the Laundry Center 97812 for about a month. I previously had a similar product from another manufacturer that lasted over 15 years. I didn't have space for a full sized washer & dryer, and only one electrical outlet so I didn't consider getting two separate stacked units. The 97812 has worked well, and seems to have good capacity for the laundry needs of a small household (1-2 persons). The salesperson at Sears was very helpful, and the installers were excellent, took great care that they didn't scrape the walls, and they were on time, quick, and efficient. My biggest complaint is that the dryer buzzer is extremely loud, and it lasts for several very long seconds. It could well disturb my neighbors so I would not want to use it past 10 pm; for a product that's likely to be purchased by the owner of a small condominium with shared walls, the sound level of the buzzer seems excessive (otherwise it's a pretty quiet unit). The lint screen has generally worked well; the only time I had excess lint was when I washed some new sheets. I'm happy with the product.

9781 Kenmore stacked washer/dryer February 07, 2011
Very noisy machine. Won't let you have hot water...installation was very very poor. I used to buy Kenmore products but not any longer. The installation crew didn't want to install it and gave me every reason not to.....I needed an drip pan....not true......they could not even find the new plug I had installed on the old unit.....guess what....the new plug that they unplugged from the old unit was still on the old unit...they left my home a mess and said they did not have time to clean up their mess....and when I asked them out cleaning it up I was told "be happy we put it in". Never ever will I buy anything from Sears again. Years ago I had all Kenmore appliances put in my kitchen with not one problem at all. Now that Sears does not install their own products it is not the same. No more Sears for me.

I have a big family and live on a farm and this washer and dryer has done tons of laundry for me. Dryer stopped working in less than a year September 01, 2010

Stopped workingI bought this last December and it worked fine for a few months. 2 months ago, the latch that keeps the washer lid locked during the wash cycle began to stick and kept it locked after the cycle was finished. I had to start using a knife to open it. Today it still sticks a little, but seems to be working better.
Yesterday, the dryer stopped working. It just won't turn on. Researching the problem online, it seems to be a very common problem with a few possible solutions. I called Sears today to come out and fix it, but I have to wait two weeks for a repair person to come out to look at it.
