We purchased this model in May 2008. Required service by August. Service Tech said while he could see the error codes in the computer he could not replace or repair anything as he could not duplicate the malfunction per Sears policy. Malfunction being dryer repeatedly turning itself off before completing the cycle. He did tighten some connections. This worked for about a month when once again the dryer would off before completing a cycle. And again even though the error codes were visible I was told of Sears policy not to replace or repair what a service tech could not duplicate. After talking to several Sears reps they are now replacing this dryer. Hopefully it will not have any problems. When working properly I did appreciates the features and performance of this dryer. I guess this ended up being more of a review of Sears unfriendly service policy. What is the point of the warranty if not honored.

I purchased the HE3 washer & gas dryer in January 2004. I find that the dryer gives off excessive lint. I had the dryer on the touch up cycle and I smelled something burning. It turns out that inside the unit by the heating element there was so much lint that it caught fire. I always clean out the lint fliter in between loads. There was lint EVERYWHERE inside under the drum and a ton of lint outside where the pipe vents from the house. I have never had a dryer do this. I feel that this is a design defect.

a comparison shopperWe purchased this dryer online. It was delivered on time by one of the nicest delivery men I have ever met. He removed the old dryer and connected the new one. He even showed me how to use it. I am so happy that my clothes now dry quicker and both the washer and dryer cycles finish about the same time, so I am not having to wait on the dryer. The capasity inside is very large - no problems drying comforters, etc. Also I have notice I no longer see "pilling" on sweaters. This tells me my clothes will last so much longer. Worth every penney.
a comparison shopperWe purchased this dryer in August 2009, and exactly one week after delivery it stopped heating. The Sears technician tried to fix it, two days later, but it was a circuit board failure, so would take over a week to order the part and get it fixed. He recommended we just have Sears trade it out for a new one.
BEWARE: This was more difficult than expected, because we ordered the dryer online, and the local store told me to call the Sears Online Service to get it replaced. Of course, Sears Online told me to call the local store! After getting the runaround a couple more times, the local store manager consented to help me out, and delivered a new one the next day.
As for the dryer performance, we've been using this one for a month now and it works great. It holds much more than our old Kenmore, and dries faster. The moisture sensor works better too, since it doesn't overdry/overheat the clothes like our old dryer did. We're very satisfied... as long as it keeps working.
