Die Hard Gold of 1999
I have a 3.0 liter standard engine in my Taurus, but the battery compartment would hold a larger battery than came from the factory with the car, so I got the battery for the largest engine option. On 6/14/99, I installed the largest available Die Hard Gold (model 39065 at that time); the best available. It was rated at 900 amps and 1000 Cold Cranking Amps (CCA). It was reliable til this morning, 3/8/07, and the temp. on the house was -9 Degrees F. (The house is about 15 feet lower in elevation than the car). Two weeks earlier, it had worked at -8 Deg F. In addition to lasting 81 months, it got me out of some jams a normal battery probably couldn't have, (like leaving (2) dome lamps on all night and it still started, leaving lights on in the winter till someone told me about them); and it would still start. It successfully jump started many other cars. I never had to jump start the car because of the battery being too weak. I had to add distilled water once or twice each year, but it didn't corrode the terminals as severely as non-maintenance free batteries, and didn't rapidly get a slime coat on top which can conduct electricity and run down the battery with an otherwise perfect auto electrical system. I think I only took it out and washed it once the whole time, and it didn't even need a lot of wiping. There isn't an exact equivilant of this battery now, but the pro rated guarantee is longer on the top of line battery now. I have faith that Sears Die Hard batteries are a good value, prevent a lot of problems other batteries might not, they last (with a good starting engine), and do all that with just a little maintenance.

Die Hard Gold that Dies

I purchased a Die Hard Gold Battery on 7/5/09.  On 8/16/12, it failed.  The warranty was 36 months free replacement and 100 month pro-rated.  It was low on voltage.  Returned it to my local Sears Store.  Expecting a full replacement or at least a minimal fee to replace it.  The quoted price was $56.76, not minimal.  I was irate.  Asked for a manager, same store.  Once it was past 36 months it is prorated to day one.  That was not made clear in the warranty or at the time of purchase.  Retrived the battery and returned home, I call Customer Service.  These best they could offer is mailing a $50 gift card.  Not a help.  Now I am waiting on a return call tomorrow.  Mean time my car is dead in the driveway.  I do not recommend this product.  You pay for and expect quality, but your do not receive.  I was support of Sears and Craftsman Tools.  That is questioned now.

65 Gold 850 CCA Battery

I wanted the best warrantied battery (Sears in my judgement), but priced batteries online. With a sale and "Shop My Way" discounts, I was able to bring the price of the Sears battery down to within $5 of the cheapest battery at Wally-World. Great customer service, too.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

This was a replacement for the exact same model - it was warranted for 100 months, but it lasted more than 110 months.  Excellent battery.

4/2004 to 11/2011

! have a 1993 e-150 conversion van with a wheelchair lift. My battery died in April 2004 and I replaced it with the Diehard Gold.

On December 8 2011, on a 36 degree Syracuse, NY morning, after not having used my van in two weeks my Diehard Gold failed to start my van for the first time since April 2004. My Diehard Gold was 6 years and 8 months old.

We have brutally cold days in Central New York, and we have had hot spells in the summer as well. I have front and rear AC units, and often run my wheelchair lift without the engine running. Despite these extremes my Sears Diehard Gold lasted 6 years and 8 months. Great Battery, dependable, long lasting and yes I would recommend to a friend.

How Jealous Is the Energizer Bunny?

After taking my son to cross-country running practice this morning, I sat in the my 1997 4Runner reading while he took off on his run.  While I read, I had forgotten I had left the headlights on (the sun was angled through the driver window just perfect for reading and, at the same time, illuminated the dashboard so I could not tell my headlight indicator was on).  Needless to say, 50 minutes later when he's back from his run, I twist the key and hear the clicking of a starter with a dead battery.  I called AAA for a jumpstart; a Honda Ridgeline pulls up with the AAA logo.  I pop the hood and ... yikes ... there's acid buildup around the battery terminals like it was a lettuce patch from Neptune.  (Wonder if my auto shop had seen this last time I was in for an oil change?)  So now i'm left with wondering if the integrity of the battery cables has been compromised...should I get them replaced?  <rhetorical>.  Ahem... back to the battery...

It's a Diehard Gold (it had the battery when I bought the 4Runner in 2006).  AAA Guy takes one look at the battery and says 'Wow'... not at the acid buildup, but at the battery itself.  A battery in a vehicle that has been parked outside my garage, through Colorado winters, and other electrical miscarriages of justice by adolescents.

"Yeah... I don't know how it got there..."  I sheepishly reply, eyeing the garden.

"No.  Your battery.  It's from 2001  (as he points out the sticker).  Nine years.  That's a long time for a battery."

So I stand there, like a proud father ... Superman without the cape.  "Yep, she's been good to me."  (She?  As if I were on a boat in the mid-Atlantic...)

If it's time to get a new battery, it'll be a DieHard Gold.

I would recommend this product to a friend.
