DieHard  Platinum Microprocessor Controlled Wheeled Battery Charger w/ Tester & Outlets

This charger is nothing like the one I had for 25 years they didn't last but a couple of weeks and just quit working totally This is my third one

It tip over once and that was that for it did not work anymore!!

Display went out on the original charger after 3 months of home/light use. It never left my 2 car garage. My uncles have 25-30 yr. old chargers on their farm and have been wheeled across a gravel yard countless times. I was the only user and know this was not caused by operator error or neglectful use. Presented purchase receipt and Sears promptly exchanged for a new one without any haggling. Much appreciated guys, thank you. Replacement has been used trouble free for 2 years now. However, I am still concerned about the fragility of the electronics after the first one quit. I verified the GFI outlets work, but I never use them. To date, I have not used the battery tester. The cable clamps I have are not as shown in the photo. Mine appear copper plated have round and serrated edges and they work quite well. I can see where the clamps in the photo may not clamp as well. I do wish they were about 2ft. longer though. I am neutral on recommending this product.

The algorithm this charger is using should be in the manual. The current into the battery is not what the display shows - it is usually less as I measured it. The display voltage reading is accurate. If the display is showing a measured value, it should be accurate. The charger would benefif from modern switching power supply design. The weight for the same performance could be reduced by an order of magnitude. It's rare to find 60 Hz magnetics in a modern product nowadays.

Love it! Have found several bad batteries with battery test and was able to save two batteries. Also was able to start my car with auto start.

We haven't used it much yet, but my husband thought it was top of the line. Even the guy from Sears that packed it out, said he wished his wife would buy him one like that.

The DieHard Platinum Battery Charger is quite frankly the best charger I have used. After receiving it, I took an 8 year old, TOTALLY dead battery, that the repair facility told me could not be charged and that had been in its dead state for at least 6 weeks, our of my Jaguar and connected it to my new above referenced DieHard Platinum charger. This battery was in such a degraded condition that the cells were all almost empty so that prior to charging I had to fill them with distilled water. With the charger set on Automatic mode at a charge current of 20 amperes, the battery was fully recharged is less than 5 hours. In addition to the above described outstanding performance, it must be added that this charger can be operated in either manual or automatic modes with a choice of 60 amp, 20 Amp or 2 Amp charge current settings. It has a 275 ampere output current for cranking the engine with a dead battery. With the 3 year replacement warranty, one couldn't ask for more.

Was soo excited about this purchase. read the manual 3 times. Used it on several batteries. did great. Used it one to jump start. Whole thing crapped out on me. So glad its under 30 days. Debating on getting another or not..

I'm on my third charger. Yes THIRD. The first one lasted 2 years and 7 months, used it at most 10 times. Second one recently obtained through warranty is dead right out of the box! Number three is getting picked up tomorrow. Lets see if it works in the store and if it works when I make it to the house. Sears' saving grace is their customer service people whom for the majority are very professional and knowledgable. The engine crank feature is pretty much useless, you have to wait about 5 minutes in between each attempt. The low amp trickle charger work for about 2 hours and then "check batt" comes on. You have to disconnect and start agian and hopes it works for longer. The 6 volt feature works great, fires up my lawnmower like a champ. The touch pad is a terrible design idea. The user's manual and troubleshooting steps area a joke. I purchased this battery charger to replace a 30 year old interstate charger, which still works by the way. I assumed buying something with good reveiws and a good warranty meant it would be a good product and last a while. This is the most frustrating thing to happen in a long time, it failed twice when I absolutely needed it. For somethihng that rarely gets used you would expect it to be ready to go. I would NOT reccomend this charger to anyone. If you are given one as a gift, return it or sell it while it's still working. For the price I paid for this Diehard charger and time lost and fuel I could have purchased 10 chargers from that inexpensive tool store and simply throw them away when they stopped. For those of you reading this and wondering, yes the batteries were good, I have been working on cars for probably 20 years, no I am not hooking it up worng. Read and heed, thank you.

This charger makes work easy. In addition to automatic operation so there is no overcharging, the controls are simple touch control buttons whose functions are easily identifiable. It allows battery and alternator checking and includes a GFCI 120 V. plug on the chassis. It is easily assembled in a few minutes with the included hardware (wheels, axle, axle supports, handle and metal screws). The charging leads seem a little short for some of the batteries I'd like to reach (boat), but are about average length for a charger. It is a heavy unit that needs the wheels it is mounted on.
