I bought one of these a year ago after reading about it in Tech column in NY Times. Used it in my 2003 Honda Pilot. Since then, I've bought two more, one for my wife's Toyota Prius and the other for our 2008 Honda Fit. We've also used them in assorted rental cars, mainly domestic car models. The inverters have all performed absolutely perfectly, and we've never had any problem at all with any of them in any car. I was worried that the inverter would overheat on long car trips, but that's never happened. It's such a simple yet handy tool, I no longer travel anywhere without it, even when I fly and then rent a car!

Just bought it for trip to FLA from CT - blew out lighter & dash fuses as soon as I plugged it in. Tried it on my new corolla and blew fuse immediately - twice. Green power light came on for 2 seconds then dash went dark. Nothing attached to it just the product itself. Unhappy.
relying on public transportI wanted to love this. David Pogue recommended it. I got one, good trip out of it. It died. I opened it up and everything seems to be in order. Too late to return now. Also, its fan is pretty darn loud.
