Designed with micro-computer control system, this unit can lower surrounding temperature and humidify the air through the principal of water evaporation. Works great for me in Southern CA
I love this evaporative cooler! It's the first evaporative cooler I have had. It isn't comparable to an A/C unit, but it is far better than a fan. It's very effective if you're sitting with it closeby. We used both water and ice cubes in the unit. The vents have a "swing" motion so it circulates like a fan (back-and-forth). I have a 4 month old who happens to enjoy the noise of the unit - it's a combination of white noise and water, although some may find it loud (the volume of it on full blast is loud enough that you'd need to speak loudly to be heard). It's also a very attractive unit. I like that it has wheels so I can move it around the house (from the living room to the bedroom as needed), although the wheels are a little stiff. Overall it's a good value. I went to my local Sears store and ordered it there because if you order it at the store for delivery, the shipping becomes free. Also, I live in Los Angeles where it does get hot but not humid. Not sure how it fares in other parts of the US.

Leaks and does not cool
Purchased on a Friends and Family event and worked well for about a week. The rubber drain plug on the bottom of the reservoir was the first spot to leak. Tried sealing with silicone and it started leaking from other openings underneath. Tried sealing those and then it started leaking by the power cord that comes out of the bottom. Not worth the risk of electrocution. Even with 5 lbs of ice in the unit, it does not cool very well.

Junk and not as I expected
Not as I expected and is nothing but an over priced fan. Didn't cool anything off. Wanted to return it but not work my time. Please all, save up or buy a portable air conditioner like I am, you will more satisfied
