Better than I expected for the price December 07, 2007
I have read every single review on this worklight so I had a very good idea of what to expect. Given that it was on sale for $23.99 (Regularly $39.99) I figured I didn't have much to lose to at least try it out. I don't know if they beefed up the plastic fittings that secure the telescoping tripod but for now they seem to be pretty solid. They are a bit difficult to engage but I have extended and collapsed it quite a few times now with nothing but positive results. This is just the product I have been looking for to do some night time home improvement projects as well as work on my vehicles in the garage. For $24.00 I can't really complain, I can only hope that those plastic fittings have been re-engineered since most of the negative reviews are roughly 1 year old. Positives: High and low settings on the lamps. Range of motion to direct the light. Price and performance. Value! Negatives: Some of the fittings could have been designed or constructed a little better. All of the knobs for tightening the lights seem to loosen up with regular use. It's not a big deal to just re-tighten them, especially considering the price paid. Overall, I would certainly recommend this product to a friend!

Pile of Junk thats not even worth recycling. September 08, 2009
My husband got this for a present which we are taking back to Sears for a refund right away.
Being that this is a Craftsman product, I figured it would at least be constructed with quality...but boy was I wrong. My husband put it together without a problem, but when it came time to extend the tripod to the tallest height, it failed miserably. The plastic mechanism that is supposed to secure the tripod at that height didn't even hold....The lights fell down right away, on the FIRST TRY!
I also figured that it would be a benefit that the lights can be easily removed from the tripod and attached onto the tripod......Wrong again. While its convenient, the construction is cheap and the slightest touch of the lights makes you think the whole thing is going to topple over.....
Very disappointing Craftsman....Very. After we return this light to Sears, we are going to ******** to get one of the knock-off brands like what we used to have(which by the way, lasted for 5 years and the only reason why we needed a new one is because one of the tripod legs got bent)

Expensive to use on high powerWe bought the Craftsman Portable Halogen lights so we could work late on getting our house foundation ready to pour concrete. It really lights up the area well when you have both lights on high power but can run up your utility bill like a big electric heater would. Nice to have on a tripod for easily moving where you need it and if you don't need as much light you can turn it down or just use one light on lower power. You can also swivel the lights for working 2 different areas. Tripod makes them stable.

I bought this light on a craftsman sale for 25 dollars. i had looked around for a while and other than harbor freight this was the best deal around. I love the ability to take it off the stand so easily and put it on the ground. My only complaint is that you cannot lock the feet except at a fully open position. this just means it does not fit in every small area, but i am not saying that the base is hugh either. And having a positive lok when it is at the bottom is very handy. I would definitly purchase this again and for the price it goes on sale for you can't beat it.
