    Perfect for diagnosing automotive problems May 30, 2010

    I picked this up to diagnose a battery drain problem on my car.  Many of the inexpensive clamp meters do not measure DC amps.  This one does.  Just put the clamp around the battery cable and it measures the current draw.  I can see exactly how much power is drawn as the various components come on and off.  Have not tried the other features but the temperature sensor seems useful.

    Needs Quality Control June 09, 2009

    I purchased this model mainly for the clamp (AC&DC) current features as I have all the other features in other meters..My first unit seemed accurate in all the functions but where the probe was inserted was a bad connection..Just wiggle a probe lead and get over range readings..I took it back to Sears and with a no-hassle exchange(Thanks Sears)got another.. This unit has a very secure probe insert connection but the electronics are grossly inaccurate and unstable..Order of magnitude errors of many readings checked with two other meters(one a Fluke meter)..This must be either exchanged or a refund as the meter is un usable as is..I am very disappointed and this meter does not deserve the Craftsman name.. Joe

    Ammeter works well. Use the meter primarily for DC readings. Good value for the price compared to other more expensive units.

    Works great on AC or DC lines. Great for arc welder leads, and generators.

    Owned it for 2 years. Used it about 12 times. Started displaying random numbers and did not go into AC mode all the time. Extech, who makes this thing, said send $60 to repair their junk. I paid around 60 for a new one. Nice try! Once again Sears is disappointing. This worked fine when it worked...not any more.

    Picked yesterday and checked all functions. Everything was accurate except for the temperature function. Temperature reads about 20 degrees F high. I'll check it in an ice bath to verify
