48 in. Shop Light, Tread Plate

I hung two of these in my garage months ago. Installation was straight forward, easy and quick. They're still working fine. What else can one ask?

Good stuff

I just installed 2 of these lights within 30 minutes. Easy to hang, very lightweight. I'm running Philips T8, 32 watt, 5000K, 2,950 lumens bulbs in each light. Bright, clean, natural light brightens up my garage workout space (12' x 16'). If I had a bigger garage or a need for more lights, I would buy these again.

i think it is good light for the money and a good looking light. i was surprised at how lightweight it was. i especially like the pull switch on it. i bought two and intend to buy several more. my only fault so far is that chains that they give you to hang them from seems pretty cheesey. maybe they will not be a problem, but i expect i will replace them with a little stronger looking chain.

I bought one of these for our garage and will be going back to get two more. I had T12s and even with an electronic ballast there was humming. These take the T8 (the numbers refer to diameter in 1/12 inch units) which are silent and instant start even when temp is at at freezing. The frame is sturdy

I bought two of these at the local Kmart. They were easy to install, though the instructions were minimal at best. With the T8 tubes in them they put out more light than the other lights in the garage combined. They are going to be a great addition to my shop. While installing one, I noticed that the tab where the chain attaches to the light unit had bent upward. This was easily pushed back into place because of the thin Aluminum cunstruction. Once hung in place the chance of this or any of the other tabs rebending is minimal. The t8 bulbs provide plenty of light and are instant on, which is a nice change from the lights they are replacing. The only drawback is though they were made for American Flourescent, they were made in China.

I ordered the treadplate light so it would go with my shop look. when I opened the box it was just a standard white enamel cover and not the treadplate. Just figured that it wasn't available so they substituted.

Looking for replacement fixtures for the garage, Home Depot and Lowe's were too expensive and rated very poor by almost everyone. So I was surprised when I came across these lights and the reviews. But the page was missing some important info (how long is the cord, where are they made and by whom?). I ordered two from the local hometown Sears, they were 10% off and if ordered at the store got free shipping to home. They came real quick and were pretty much everything the reviews said, looked okay and put the old fixtures to shame, although I think credit goes a lot to the T8 bulbs, which I got from the Depot. By the way, the cord is 5 feet. The light is made by American Flourescent but nowhere on the package or inside does it state who they are or even where they are. According to their web site, they are a long time company in Waukegan IL. Unfortunately, like everything else, these fixtures are made in China. Shame on you American Flourescent and shame on Sears. No reason they shouldn't be made in USA. The Phillips bulbs I bought were made in USA. All that aside, I went back to the store and ordered two more fixtures for the garage to relly brighten it up.

i just bought four of these lights and installed them in my shop. They are very well made and give me the right amount of light where i need it. I like the fact that each of these lights have a pull string to turn them on and off. I would buy these lights again and have told me friends about them
