Kenmore  50 gal. 12-Year Natural Gas Water Heater

The former water heater was on its last legs and that gave us time to do quite a bit of research on water heaters...and why some are a better choice than others...why pricing varies for the same tank size, etc. In the end, we made this choice when it went on sale and brought it into line with the cost of lesser units available at ******, etc. This water heater has a glass-lined tank, rather than plastic; has thicker internal insulation; has a much deeper drop-rod with a 10 recycling jets (versus only 3 in the Whirlpool, for instance); and is good on energy usage. We've only had in in use for a few weeks now, but the difference is so much better than what we had been experiencing with the older one.

We have 2 adults and 2 Teens in the House plus the standard dishwasher and Washer; this 50 Gal does its job. I couldn't afford to replace our 74 Gal. 18 year old water heater that shut down last week. Sears Installer is only 1 company serving this area and I was weary of being charged additional $$ beyond the $300 Install & permit fee. But, surprisingly, the Installer, American Home Services, did a great job -- got here and gone in 1 hour, removing the old and installing the new water heater--all professional in their work and cleaned up too. Be sure to clear an open area for them to work in and be sure you know where your main water line is to shut it off while they work. Nice Job Sears!!

I purchased the Kenmore 50 gal. 12-year Natural gas water heater and had it installed by someone. It was in a second story attic. It went in and was installed with no problems. It was just installed and is working properly. I do not at this time have a long term perspective on its operation. I would recommend it to my friends and associates.

Water heater works great, good job on installation, and same day delivery. Sears followed through with customer satisfaction.

I purchased this water heater a couple of weeks ago from Sears and so far I love it. We have plenty of hot water (for a family of 5) and the unit seems to be functioning great so far. I have no complaints.

I spent a whole weekend researching water heaters. I hope that the 12 year warranty is worth the price and the two anode rods do make a huge difference in how long this will last. I thought the swirling would also make this unit last longer. So far a week in and its running great. My family helped me install this unit and it went fairly smoothly. Overall we have hot water again and we are all thrilled!!

Had this installed a few weeks ago by Sears and everything wen smoothly and the product works just great.

Fortunately we have not had any problems with the HWH, however, be sure to inspect box / product before leaving the store. I purchased online as an emergency purchase. Our hot water heater started to leak, so we knew there was no time to waste. My husband & bro-in-law picked up the heater from the store & they did notice the box was damaged, but they said nothing. When we got the heater home & unpacked the heater was damaged (dented) right by the controls on the bottom. I took pictures of the box & heater. If we had called Sears, we would have been told to bring it back. This was the only one IN STOCK, as I had already looked at the store that was closer to our home. We NEEDED a hot water heater & my bro-in-law thought the damage was superficial & the unit would be fine. Taking the chance out of necessity we installed it. It works fine, thank goodness, I just wish the men would have said something at the store. Our heater was damaged & we should have gotten a discount!!!

This is a replacement tank from a previous 12 year tank installation from 6 years ago. The only thing that I would recommend is that the installers check the existing expansion tank to see if it is functioning properly.
