everything made in china is engineered to the minimum; the side curtain holders should be installed at the factory. It is very difficult to take the A/C apart just to install these holders, when you have it apart make sure that you write down the serial # and model # they are located on the compressor, those #'s should be on the outside of the A/C as well. It's Fairley quite, it takes a long time to cool down my living room and kitchen, one large open space, my 10,000 btu A/C, seem to do just as well.

Our central ac went out & we were burning up. We had a smaller window unit that would cool the people in front of it, but the heat & size of the rooms we needed cooled off were more than the little ac could handle. SOOOO we decided to TRY a larger AC unit! WOW! I have actually had to turn it off from being too cold more than once! THIS IS A WONDERFUL UNIT! If you are needing to cool more than one room in the Texas heat - THIS is the unit you need!

The Lever to close vent or open for fresh air doesn't work

We bought this air conditioner last year for the sticky, humid Baltimore Summers. It replaced a Samsung (supposedly) 12,000 btu A/C unit that did not cool our house below 80 degrees in the Summer. I just re-installed the Kenmore this year and it started up immediately with no drama. This unit cools down our entire downstairs, approximately 900 sq. ft. , without breaking a sweat. It's the highest btu's I could find for our old 120v electrical system. It's quiet, efficient, and reliable. Also, I find the installation to be mush easier as a three-piece job (cage/frame installs first, condenser/internals install second, filter/control panel installs last). It's still heavy and cumbersome, but offers the best possible installation for a unit this size. Highly recommended.

Bought this two years ago(Model 580.75151500/ 15,000 BTU) to 'get me thru' til I could get central a/c replaced. It's still working, and with some extreme window covering engineering (reflectix, drapes, blue board on east and west windows) it is keeping the 1150 sf Houston Heights (old, drafty) at a reasonable 72F on a 88F/65% humidity day. I run a dehumidifier on the far side of the house to augment the unit on rainy days and the unit keeps humidity between 40-65%, depending which rooms I blow cool air to with fans. I installed it myself (woman) with help from a girfriend to heave it up onto heavy L brackets I got from hardware store. Other than that, the install directions were pretty straight forward. It worked so well, I went back and bought another one as a backup, and haven't used it yet (sale 2 years ago). With no remote, it still a 5 star machine, based on price. note: If U R going to use this as sole a/c unit, seal up central ac vent holes in ceiling IMPORTANT!

This air conditioner is very efficient and really does a great job cooling the area we needed it to.  Appreciate the many usage options available.  Would buy again if the need arose.

I was shopping for a Frigidaire Model LRA 157Mt1 15,100 BTU air conditioner for the work shop I am having built.  Due to the hot summer we have had, no one in our area had any of these units left.  Then I checked Sears and they still had them in stock, and at the same price that ******  had it for. Unfortunately, I will not be taking it out of the box until next summer and Sears only warrents it for 1 year. Frigidaire has 7 years on their unit.

<span>This 15000 BTU air conditioner is the largest you can use with a 15 amp fuse and does a great job. The best part it is one of the quietest window units I have seen. Also easy to install. I picked it up myself and they had it out to my car super fast, so good service at the Oakbrook, Il store.</span>

The installation instructions mainly the pictures could have been a bit larger or more clear. I have an Anderson window and some of the pieces did not line up properly and I had to use wood shims to fill in the gaps. The brackets that hang on the outside of the sill were not flush and I had to use wood shims. I dread removing it in the fall and installing again in the Spring. Once installed the product works great ad Kenmore is an awesome brand.
