Excellent Value June 04, 2009
I replaced my 10 year old 5300 BTU AC with this Kenmore 8000 BTU model and I couldn't be happier. It's exactly the same size as my old AC and actually weighs 5 pounds less at approximately 65 pounds. It handles my second floor 18' x 15' TV/Computer room without any stress at all. At low fan speed it runs quietly and cools efficiently, handling the heat from all the electronics and the summer humidity with ease. At high fan speed it will drop the room temperature by 10 degrees in less than 15 minutes. I always mount my room AC with a plywood insert and found this to be an easy task with the Kenmore 8000 BTU model. No vibrations and no nonsense with this unit. I like the simplicity of the remote and the front panel controls and plan to grab an additional unit for another upstairs bedroom. This AC is a no-brainer, especially if you are moving up from something smaller.

8000 btus serves two adjacent rooms w/o complaint June 14, 2007
This 8000 btu unit was called into service to cool two adjacent rooms separated by bifold doors. The first unit had loose or defective components inside so it rattled mercilessly. Sears exchanged it out with no problem, fortunately, and the replacement has been used one season with no complaints. It's heavy among the window units I have at home, but not excessively so for an 8000 btu unit. I mounted it in a window located in our TV room, such that it cooled across the room and into the adjacent home office, which is only about 10 feet wide. It cooled the TV room easily and the office space adequately. My only interface complaint is that its fan/cool sequence is not logical or conventional. I would much prefer a setup whereby you start with high fan, move to high cool...then medium...step down to low cool...and finally denouement with a low fan setting before shutdown. It toggles through its steps in a way that would seem to be harder on the cooling unit, although during its last season of use, it didn't seem to complain about the stress of duty. It's a straigtforward, white, clean design otherwise that is not obtrusive in any room.

Cools room off quicklyWe have central air within our house but due to the attic being in my bedroom, it doesn't necessarily cool off right away. So I bought a Kenmore air conditioner! This air conditioner cools my room off in seconds! I am very pleased with this product!

timer,Easy installationI received this as a birthday gift to replace an older kenmore air conditioner that was almost as old as i was. I was amazed at how easy it was to install. The remote control is great. I can turn it on from the doorway and adjust it during the night as I need. The unit cools a room quickly, I turn it on and when i come back later (about 15 minutes) it has already cooled the room down, and that's on a medium setting in 97 - 103 degree weather. We bought 2 at the same time and both are great. Placed at opposite ends of the house in to separete rooms, these 2 units together cool off our entire upstairs. Its no louder than any other unit i've seen. I'd reccomend this to anyone, a great model at a great price.
