I'm very conscious of saving energy, and this Kenmore air-conditioner keeps my home cool on the hottest days of summer yet offers money-saving settings that keep the costs manageable. I waited years to get an air-conditioner, but I'm glad I finally decided to stop sweating the hottest days of summer.
I'm considering getting another smaller model for an additional room when the budget permits the purchase.

Shopped Sears online last night and found this unit, which is the only window unit that would fit my windows. Drove over to Sears at 8:00 PM in 93 degree weather, purchased this unit at full price. The box was strapped like a new product, however, after I hoisted it out of my car, onto a dolly and wheeled it to the window where I wanted to install it, I cut the straps and the box fell apart. It had been previously cut open. ARGH! All the packing materials fell away and I thought....ah shucks! (Or something like that.) But I decided since I'd already come that far, and all I needed to do at this point was to hoist it up into the window, I did just that. Plugged it in, and the fan immediately started to blow! The temp was already set for 60 degrees, so, thinking...YIPPEE! I'm gonna have cold air right away...I went about reading the owner's manual. Uh oh. When you first turn it on, it's supposed to be set for 72 degrees. So I shut it off, and wait the required three minutes, and then turn it back on. Same thing. Oh WHELL. I let it blow. And blow. And blow some more.....And that's all it did. Blow. Not cool air. Just the same old hot air that was already in the room. More expletives. And now tears as well. Shut it off. Repacked it as best I could (which was very difficult since the box was cut at the bottom, all the way around and it just lifts off) I wrestle it onto my dolly and back into the car to return first thing this morning. Now I will never know if this product does what it is advertised to do because I will NEVER purchase anything from Sears again! What a SHAME that Sears has fallen this low. Selling used, non operating products at full price! Shame on you Sears.

an appliance snobThe Kenmore AC works grerat love having a remote and energy cycle too. I don't need to run it very long to have my whole room down to a comfort zone. It was easy to install, I have a bigger window that the meterials given in box so I got a piece of glass cut and it fit in the frame so it is so safe I don't worry about breakins. I think this product is great and I love that the bottom has ridges that lays on the tracks nicely.

brand consciousBought this unit a couple of days ago. It's a work horse! I bought it in desperation because of the recent heatwave. I live in an A frame home with large windows that are in direct sunlight all day long. It is currently trying to cool 800+ sq ft. including what is going into our basement. It has done a very good job! It doesn't stay cold in here but it's keeping the humidity down. I have another 12000 Btu portable in the mail to take care of the cold issue. It's easy to install. At this point I have no complaints as the ice cold air blows on me as I type this review. AWESOME!!!
