I bought this window unit when my central air went out and would be out for a week waiting on parts. I have a split-level house that is well insulated. In the upstairs I have a 5,500 BTU window unit, and I put this unit in the middle level with a fan blowing air down to the lower level. This A/C hept the middle level very cold. The middle level has a dining, living room, and kitchen. I left in on all day with the other unit upstairs in 95 degree weather and my house was 69 when I got home from work. This unit is a bit loud, it's heavy, and the mounting hardware/directions are lacking. But, window units are pretty easy to put in and are pretty self explanatory. The plug has a nice circuit protector on it. I tried using it on Energy Saver and it came on about every 5 minutes and stayed on for about 1 minute and turned off. Not sure whether this is normal or not. I'll have to read the book.

I bought two of these when they were on sale this past summer (2011) I still have one of them in the box because this item is so powerful I have only had to use one all summer long.
looking for energy savingsWe bought this air conditioner for our daughter and son-in-law. They couldn't be more pleased. They live in a small house about 1,500 sq ft, and this air kept the whole house cool during this very high temperature summer. Highly recommend!
Pros--This machine does cool great, the fan on high speed is a little noisy .I let the AC run for about 20-40 min on high, and then turn to medium or low. This machine takes care of a large area(dinning rm and living rm,kitchen). It was a lot lighter than the old AC unit we took out.You can direct the fan over a large area.
Cons:As with any newer unit they are using a lot of foam instead of metal. One problem is my unit is on the sunny side of house and the sun does shine through the foam, not much.It took me a while to figure out why the foam was a little bright. They should make the foam thincker to cut out the light. There is the slight problem of the fan hitting the water after its removed. You hear a slight pinging.Like I said before the fan isn't bad as far a directing the air movement, but you can't move finns up or down.Mostly side ways. The another point is that this is a wall or window unit. For another 1-2 dollars they could of put a bottom on the unit.Meaning that the unit slides out and there is then no bottom to seal in the wall.My one VERY BIG complaint has to do with all wall or window units is the air leakage from the out side. They give you foam to plug up the holes and as with any AC unit you have to use it.Now that I'm through with the summer, how hard is it going to be to seal up for the winter.
