Kenmore 7800 BTU Single Room A/C - Simply put, WE LOVE IT! June 28, 2010
We referred to **************** for a breakdown on room A/C'S. So we went with their recommendation and we are glad we did. We had a 6000 BTU a/c from Maytag, which did not cool well and it always had noise. We absolutely would suggest this model. I can actually sleep peacefully now. We called ahead to the store to make sure it was available and went to pick it up. Thank you Sears. This is "The place" for your next appliance!

Absolute Junk! June 21, 2010
I bought this air conditioner 18 months ago and today it went into the trash. The unit cycles on and off but no longer cooled the room. It left me and my family feeling like we were inside an oven. I called about warranty service and was told the unit was no longer under warranty. Kenmore no longer make the quality and value products that it used to.

budget conscious
Great A/C with a remote and Energy Star compliance August 25, 2010

Doesn't use much power,Very easy to install.,Comes with GFCI plug,Cheap,Quiet,Effective Cooling,Great ControlsI purchased and installed this air conditioner over the weekend of 8/21/2010 after getting it on sale from my local sears for $179. It sounds like any air conditioner I have ever heard but has a very powerful fan that shoots cold air into the middle of my office.
I installed the unit in wall instead of a window. The body and innards are easily separated with 4 screws and it's designed to have the guts slide out on a nice tray. Loved that because I was easily able to frame and seal it into the wall and then slide the guts right back in without having to maneuver all 40 lbs of it at once.
Also it says no extension cord, but you can definitely use an extension cord as long as it's the right gauge. Just use a dedicated circuit and make sure it's at least 12 gauge.

Pros:
Effective,Very easy to install.,Cheap,Quiet,Effective CoolingThe Kenmore 7,800 BTU is easy to install because you install the lightweight case not the enitre unit. Easy to level, even with aluminium storm frames in place. Once the case is perfect, just slide in the unit. Our windows are old, dormered and have storm/screen inserts.
We bought our air conditioner just before an east coast heatwave. The outside temperature has peaked for three days at over 100 degrees. But our dining room (where the unit is) stays cool even though we were right on the edge of square feet. Further, the dining room door often is not closed -- stupid, but practical -- and the room stays within one degree of set temperature. The operating noise is not offensive, we can hear music with only modest adjustments to volume. Could not be happier!
Fearing our storm windows and small window size, we bought a free-standing air-con last year for our living room -- at twice the price and a huge sacrifice of floor space. This unit is better. The room is the same size. Great deal!
