Works as advertised April 30, 2007
I bought this refrigerator for my wife as a gift a year ago. We'd been looking for a french-door stainless refrigerator for a while and this model did everything we wanted. Since it was delivered and installed we've been in love with it. First off, this model is very, very quiet. We never hear the compressor. In fact, it is so quiet that we often hear the ice and water filter systems working. This makes is seem noisier than a traditional fridge, but only because there is not a constant hum in the background. Thanks to the internal water dispenser, we have stopped buying bottled water and got rid of our Brita filtering pitcher. The dispenser is much more convenient. I would like an external water dispenser, but only Maytag makes a french-door model with an external water dispenser, and you lose a lot of the in-door storage on that model, so we never seriously considered it. The water filter, unlike some models, is inside the cooling compartment and relatively easy to change. The finish looks great. We have a four-year-old and hand-prints are a regular issue, but we've found that regular cleaning with an appropriate product takes care of all the marks. It has not been a problem. The pull-out shelves are very convenient. My wife is quite short, so the fact that the shelves are transparent (not opaque) glass means she can find stuff by looking up from underneath the shelves when she needs to. The adjustable in-door racks are well-designed and sturdy, and they hold plenty of stuff. We are easily able to keep two gallons of OJ and 2 of milk in the fridge. The only potential problem is that sometimes it gets TOO cold, but that has more to do with how my wife sets the controls than anything else. And be sure you have enough room in your kitchen for this fridge -- it is bigger than most traditional models (just like all french-door fridges). Measure first!

Frequent repair, too noisy July 06, 2008
I paid a lot of money for a refrigerator that is highly defective. In only slightly more than two years of use, it has required two major repairs. The second time out was recent and ongoing. My expensive Amana refrigerator needs a compressor, evaporator, and dryer - what else is there?? The evaporator is on back order for over two weeks. By the time the part is available and the refrigerator is fixed, I will have been without a frige for about 4 weeks!!! Try that with two kids!

cheap plastic hingesI'm a mother of 4 boys and this refridgerator has been the most loved appliance in the home. There is plenty of space for everything from left over pizza boxes to room for 6 gallons of milk to be in there at a time. The only down fall is the plastic hinges that hold the snack drawer lid did break and you will need to replace the entire drawer slide assembly. Other than that we love this refrigerator and have been very happy with it.

I have this refrigerator for two weeks and I absolutely love it. The internal water dispenser is a great feature also. The temperature controls are accurate for both refrigerator and freezer. The ice maker is great also. I felt this model was a very good value for the size and style compared to others in this catagory.

Extremely good fridge December 13, 2008

We have had two side by side refrigerator freezers. The last one was an Amana which we both liked but the wife wanted a bottom freezer because she spent most of her time in the fridge. We chose this model because it didn't have the outside dispensers. She loved the fact that you did not lose fridge space through the inside dispensers. It is quiet, and she loves the fact she can see everything in the fridge without bending over. We have only had the fridge about 3 weeks but so far it is the best fridge we have ever had. Sears is always GREAT to work with as we have bought a lot of things through this store. I will update my review a year down the road or so but so far I would recommend this fridge 100% to anyone. I did a lot of research online before we bought and so far it has paid off.

It completely DIED within a week! July 07, 2008

I ordered this machine the end of May. It arrived the first week of June on a Thursday. By that weekend the freezer died. During the next week the fridge area died. I tried to get another new one of the same model, since this model is rated as the Best Buy in the popular consumer magazine, and write this one off as a lemon. Sears rescheduled the delivery date of the replacement six times. The last time would have been in August. The problem has always been with Amana not being able to supply Sears with more machines. It got to the point that I am scared of this machine fearing that there is a problem with the model itself. I am changing my refridgerator to another brand, Kenmore. I am so disappointed since my old refridgerator was an Amana and I had it for 16 years.
