The Ice Cream compartment makes it so easy...no waiting for it to thaw out a bit before you can enjoy it.  All this room...just gotta order that side of beef next!

Great capacity; maximized design February 01, 2012

This freezer has a great capacity and the design maximizes its ability to freeze food quickly and efficiently. The price was excellent.

among the attributes I could choose from on the right of this box is one that says:

Roomy and quite!

I suspect they mean "quiet".  Very true.  I'm glad they put a light on the outside so I know it's running, because otherwise I'd never know.

I also checked:

Outstand quality and value.

I suspect they mean "Outstanding".  Also true.

As you can see, I find even small problems with things.  So far I haven't found **any** problems with this freezer...except that I need two more of the small shelves on the door.  All my little stuff that usually gets lost is going on the door, and I have space going to waste there because I don't have shelves to put in the space. 

I don't like having a one-size-fits-all user's manual for this freezer.  Sears manuals usually cover only one or two models and that allows them to have actual parts lists and to include only the features that the device actually has. 

I've had this manual defrost freezer for almost four weeks, and I don't see any ice inside, but the food is being kept solidly frozen so I know the freezer is simply precisely cold enough. 

I wouldn't buy a self-defrosting freezer because they degrade the quality of the food over time -- I had a box of popsicles in the freezer of my refrigerator, and over time they were reduced to a small quantity of sticky stuff on the popsicle sticks -- it looked like gummi bears but tasted worse.  I bought a new bag of 18 assorted flavors for the new freezer and I check them every time I open it to get something out...they haven't developed any ice crystals so I know this freezer is going to keep them perfect as long as it takes for me to eat them all.

I had a Kenmore freezer for about 33 years and only retired it because I wanted more space and it was getting mildew on the outside.  It still worked perfectly.  I expect the same experience with this one.  I was going to give the old one to my sister, but she got so enthusiastic about my new one that she went to Sears and bought herself the same freezer.  She, too, passed up the many, many other models and bought this one because it was the only manual defrost freezer they had.  Judging by the old one, we shouldn't have to defrost our freezers more often than once a year.

While I was at Sears, I saw a marvelous machine; there is a button inside that can be set by the owner to make it either a freezer or a refrigerator.  When my refrigerator finally dies, I hope they still have those since I don't have much use for the freezer in my refrigerator.  All I'm putting in it now are things that I want to keep the flour weevils out of -- things that will not evaporate away when the self-defrost cycle runs.
