    The Kenmore Elite Freezer is quiet and keeps stable at 0 degrees January 28, 2011

    The freezer was delivered on time and professionally set up and all wrapping materials taken away......the freer reached 0 degrees in just a couple of hours and has maintained that for setting since being set up in our garage. The comments about noise has not been a issue for our freezer as it runs very quiet. The shelving is nicely designed for ease of storing and retrieving frozen items. The quality of the freezer construction inside is sturdy and durable and the outward appearance looks very nice.

    Kenmore Elite 16.7 cu. ft. Upright Freezer, Not what I expected February 22, 2011

    I don't mean for this to be a critical review of the freezer itself, but more a heads up for others that might encounter the same situation as we did. We purchased this freezer for several reasons. First of all we needed more room then we had in our 8.8 cu ft freezer. And we thought we would like the convenience of an upright. After measuring the unit we confirmed that it would fit down our stairs after taking the door off. The problem for us was that although it is rated at 16.7 cu ft of space. We could not even get what we already had in our 8.8 cu ft freezer in it. IF you do the math, 16.7 should be double 8.8. Not in an upright freezer. I knew up front we would lose some space for the convenience of the upright, but to not be able to fit 8.8 cu ft in it was just unacceptable.. I don't know if this was my fault for not doing my home work well enough or the sales person who we explained why we wanted to get a bigger freezer and what size we had. He should have told us of the pit falls of upright vs. chest type. I guess live and learn. We are taking this back to sears and exchanging it for a 14.4 chest type, which won't be as big as I might like but will definitely hold more than the 16.7 cu ft upright. One other concern is that it does make some noise, much more than a manual defrost chest type. In the area we had it; it was annoying to say the least. I must say the freezer itself worked fine, but it just didn't meet our expectations at all. But for the right purpose, in the right setting, for those that don't need lots of room, and want the upright, it will work great. It pretty cool too with the controls on the door and the led read out.

    This Freezer is so different than most. the organizers in this one are fantastic. Nothing falls through the shelves on the door which use to drive me nuts on the old one. Every thing keeps very cold and the temperature gauge is so nice to have.
