We have had this refrigerator for about 6 months and are happy with most items.
Initially we were set on purchasing a french door bottom freezer style refrigerator. After looking we determined the depth of most standard refrigerators were too deep for our need and then looked at the counter depth models. When comparing the counter depth models we found that the French style models did not have very deep shelves in them. This would make it difficult to put large pans or trays in them. We then compared all the side-by-side counter depth brands and found the Samsung to have the best use of interior space, good lighting, space saving ice maker and 2 good in door storage containers for Gallon jugs. We found this model to be much quieter than our old GE profile model. This unit also has more interior space and yet 3.5" less depth than the old refrigerator. They are able to make more space by using high density insulation in the sides and making more usable space in the top and bottom. The height is another item that must be considered as some new refrigerator models are very tall. Overall a good purchase and would definitely recommend to others.
we purchased this samsung after reading reviews and thought it was a great appliance.We were wrong. The door shelves keep cracking as they are made from very brittle thin plastic. After many, many days and calls, we got one replaced. Unfortunately ,most of the rest have cracked around the 6-11 month period and we are told we have to buy new ones ourselves. Customer service was a wasteof time and they even refused to let my wife speak to a supervisor. We now have a refridgerator with no useable inside door shelves and its 1 year old

shopped around quite a bit and this fridge seemed to be the best fit for me. literally fits seamlessly in its designated spot. the unit makes very good use of space, i haven't had a problem fitting larger items, and the door shelves are very easy to adjust. i havent experienced any leaking, or cracking of plastic, nor do i see, especially the 'cracking' plastic (thats been mentioned in other reviews), as being a problem anytime soon. the unit also couldn't be quieter. ive tried to address the negative reviews that i read, that were of concern to me when i shopped.

I bought it this Feb, but in June I found that it's display couldn't work normally. And I found that the heat from its bottom burned my new floor and make its damaged. Later I contacted Samsung's departments, they always like to shift responsibility for these. Until now the issue about damaged floor couldn't get solved. Importantly, the stuff from ECR department played with me many times, that makes me disappointed in Samsung.

We received our refrigerator on a Tuesday and had the old one taken away - delivery was superb! At delivery we were told that it would take about 2-3 hours to feel the fridge cooling, so we had taken all our food out and didn't have a worry. After 6 hours I called Sears back and told them there was NO difference in temperature (77F) yet! The assistant told us to wait 24 hours before the set temp would be met. We had to drive 25 miles to our other home and stuff our 2 fridges there in order to save most of our food. Needless to say, our 4 qts of ice cream didn't make it. The next morning, I called again and said there was no change in temp, so a replacement delivery was scheduled for Thursday morning. I was actually pleased with the exchange. They were in and out and the 2nd new fridge kicked on instantly, reaching lower temps rapidly. So, did we have a lemon or is this a common problem? I believe the first. We're very happy with the fridge now and we'll see if it lasts as long as the Frigedaire we tossed after 14 years... This fSamsung is lit very well and has adjustable shelves, 2 'motors' to cool both freezer and fridge units, holds more than my Kenmore-Elite counter-depth unit. Ours is black and it's smooth. Door has alarm that's not annoying when opened too long. Okay, I'm off my soapbox ;-)

I read a lot of positive reviews on this refrigerator and it was the perfect size so we purchased it about 16 months ago. It has been the worst purchase we've made on an appliance. Something is wrong with the ice maker design. We are just a family of four and I would classify our ice use as "average". The ice maker will not keep up with our usage on the weekends. It could keep up during week when everyone is at work and school. I tried different settings on the freezer temperature but nothing seemed to help. The ice maker would get jammed about every three weeks and you had to dump it out to get it working again. The ice maker is in the door and it's tricky remove and replace when there's ice in it. The worst problem was about six weeks ago. We noticed that the wood floor under the refrigerator was damp. When we moved the refrigerator out, it had been leaking for some time and has damaged the wood floor under it. We called Sears to have the refrigerator serviced. Two service trips, and one pan replacement later...the refrigerator is still in the same condition. The pan was not cracked and the repairmen can tell that it's leaking but don't know where the water is coming from. We've turned off the ice maker and now the floor is dry underneath. It appears that something in the design is overflowing the evaporation pan below.

This fridge has a digital interface which blows out all the time. We had it replaced twice and it acted weird since day one. 8 months in to the life of this fridge the motherboard broke and it completely stopped working. Do not buy this fridge.

IF YOUR THINKING ABOUT BUYING THIS REFRIGERTOR, DO NOT!! THERE IS A DRIP PROBLEM. THIS DRAINS DOWN BEHIND AND UNDER THE ICE DISPENCER CAUSING RUST AND MOLD PROBLEM THAT CAN NOT BE DRIED OUT. SEARS WILL NOT TAKE CARE OF IT, EVEN WITH EXT. WARNT.

problems during first 8 months of ownership: 1. Water maker leaked and flooded kitchen - compression coupling was not installed properly. 2. Control panel went out and took two weeks to get part installed. No Fridge or Freezer for two weeks. 3. Door metal is so thin any slight tap will dent it. Not like other refrigerator doors that are more sturdy, even on cheaper models, these are so thin that if a cabinet door touche it, a vacuum, and oven door, etc, it will get dented. 4. Paint is so cheap it scratches just from lightly wiping up dust when you clean the house each week. Use paper towels or cloth that has not touched anything else before you clean the doors. 5. Paint is so cheap and the underlying metal so poorly prepared that rust is causing the paint to bubble up all around the tray in the door below the ice maker/ water dispenser tray. This is not covered by waranty if you can belive it! DO NOT BUY A SAMSUNG. Pay a couple hundred more and get something that won't look old, rusty, scrached, and leaking in less than a year.
