    This Kenmore Top Freezer Refrigerator is economical to operate. May 09, 2011

    Unit was a good value. Replacing a 23 (twenty-three) year old, still operating Kenmore 22 cubic foot unit! Old unit had better space utulization and better construction details. Also at the time it actually cost more than the one I just purchased! Shelf rails on new unit appear to be flimsy, but do the job. Plastic liner probably will not look as good as old porcelain liner after a few years. Using a watt meter am impressed with low power consumption.

    20.9 cu ft top freezer - not good for garage in cold climates February 14, 2011

    Beware - do not buy this refrig for a garage in colder climates! We recently noticed that the freezer was not keeping food frozen and had the service rep come out. It turns out that this model only has one thermostat in the refrigerator part that also is used to control the freezer. We have had a month of sub-freezing and below zero weather that causes the temp in refrig not to get cold enough to turn on the freezer portion hence the unfrozen food. So this is not a great design if you use it in a garage with extreme temperatures. Unfortunately this isn't spelled out very well so we are pretty much screwed, there is a blurb in the manual about not using in temps below 55F but no explanation. Our 20 year old fridge never had this problem:-(

    no freezer light,poor design for shelves on the door

    I would not buy this product again. A big negative is the door shelves aren't adjustable & none tall enough to allow storage of common size bottles. I had to store rows of bottles on top shelf of frig. This is inconvenient to remove things in the back. Half of bottom door shelf is hidden below the wider shelf above, so it is also awkward to even see what you have on the bottom shelf. There is nothing on the shelves of the freezer to keep items from falling out when you are pulling something else out. Also the freezer door rails are so small, that smaller items can fall out through the gap. In both the frig & freezer, the design leaves a wide gap at the back of the shelves that narrow bottles etc.can fall through unless you turn them. So you are losing storage space throughout the product. When the 1st frig was delivered some yellowish grease on the door hinges had stained the door and wouldn't come off. Another unit delivered the next day also had excess grease but it hadn't gotten on the door. Both units were delivered without all the correct size of rails for the freezer. At the 2nd delivery we took a rail from the 1st frig to replace the one that wasn't right. The cheaper price does not make up for the faults in the particular model. We bought because old frig wasn't repairable per Sears & we plan to remodel in 4 or 5 years so didn't want to invest much. If you are buying for long term I recommend a bottom freezer model with more flexibility in shelving & more efficiently designed use of space. I had been a Kenmore loyalist but the whole experience with the old frig & this new one have me questioning.

    I love the refrigerator and swear by Kenmore Products although I feel foolish because the refrigerator was close to $200 cheaper on line than in the store. I just bought mine and had it delivered about 2 weeks ago now. I wish the stores would have the same prices as on line. Its the exact same product. I feel foolish

    Very happy with Sears service & knowledge of products. The Oak Brook, IL store has a very helpful sales department. They went over the top to help us with the current deals. Delivery & set up went well - courteous and efficient installation. We will know more after we get the refrigerator running for a while. It is perfect for our new rental property.
