Lots of Noise for a Great Fridge! July 20, 2009
We purchased this fridge to replace our old Sears fridge and I found a model that was very similar to the other. It works great, has lots of room and great shelves .....but there is one problem. It is a NOISY little guy!!! I realize that the Energy Star appliances seem to make more noise than the older models, but this one has it's own little personality, for sure!! It hums loudly and gurgles and pops ....quite annoying at times. It is however, becoming one of the family. :)

So noisy- drives me crazy! Hate it! April 25, 2009
I was so worried noise would be a problem! And it is a big one! Even with a wall between kitchen & dining room, this frig makes me crazy when the compressor goes on & off! And it seems to run an awful lot. I can even hear it in the living room- all the way around through the dining room. I have NOT called Sears. I feel so defeated with my Sears appliance purchases lately- had to return a washer last fall & then had to have them out 3 times to properly balance the new washer that replaced it. I could not afford to spend more than this so I feel stuck. Other people posted about the noise problem & said they found other models less noisy. I wish they had said which models- perhaps I could have sent this back before the 30 days were up. Otherwise- keeps food at proper temp etc.- all OK there - but any nice features of this refrigerator are completely overshadowed by the noise!

No light in freezerWe've had this refrigerator for about a year now and we love it. We do not think it is excessively noisy as others have mentioned. In fact, it's quieter than the older refrigerator we replaced! There is plenty of room inside and spills are very easy to clean up. It maintains a good temperature in both compartments (we have thermometers in both). We often say "I love Ken" because our Kenmore is so much better than the old clunker we replaced him with. The only down side is that we had to replace the light bulb in less than one year. I don't know what the average lifespan of a refrigerator light bulb is but I was surprised when it happened. Such an inexpensive fix that it's not enough to downgrade it a star. I do recommend this refrigerator if you want a good inexpensive model.

slide out bins on doorsI absolutely love the fridge and all of it's features, but is very noisy when it runs and am unsure if I can get used to it! It sounds like a swarm of crickets in the kitchen. Does keep foods at a good temperature and love the slide-out bins on doors. It holds a lot of food also and didn't have the super large crispers, which I don't use much. All in all, a fairly good value for the money.

Energy efficiencyFor the price - it's amazing. Glass slide out shelves energy star compliant. It's a little noisy, but not unbearable. The dimensions fit my limited space, and it keeps everything very cold on the medium settings. You can't go wrong!
