Bottom of the refridgerator freezes up. Not good space. April 04, 2010
By Bookerdog of Saint Louis, MO
    Cons:
Freezes Food in the Fridge,Shelf sizes not convenient

We bought the fridge at the end of November of '09 and waited for 3 weeks for it to be delivered.  Ours was bisque in color and the 33 inch wide 23.0 cu ft model.  With those stats, they just took a while to find it.  Once delivered, the next day the water dispenser stopped working.  Some looking around and I found the water line was frozen.  The coil of water line sits on the back right bottom wall of the fridge section.  I thawed it with some warm water and we started trying to adjust temperatures, with no luck.  In less than 12 hours the line would freeze again.  Then we noticed that our veggies sitting on the bottom of the crisper drawers were freezing.  Also occasionally the front panel would freak out and al the lights would come on and only by unplugging and re-plugging could we "reboot" it.

We called Sears repair, and the first repairman didn't know what was up with the freezing, but did order a new panel and computer for it, while generally bashing this model of fridge.  The next repairman that came out replaced the panel and computer, and couldn't find any issues that would cause the freezing.  We decided to see if was the panel and computer and wait a few days.

It was not the panel and computer.  We called again, and another repair guy came out and attempted to seal up some leakage in the cooling tower on the back of the fridge.  No luck, still a frozen water line, and freezing veggies.  Also, the top of the fridge was much warmer than the rest of the fridge.

After all of this, we were done.  Sears allowed us to replace this fridge with a GE side by side, though getting that one has taken a while too.  All I can say is, ask them to pre-inspect the fridge before they send it out the truck.

I still don't know if my Elite Trio was a lemon, or suffers from a design flaw from being the narrower chassis.  All I know is that it didn't work right, and there didn't appear to be any manufacturing flaws.

On the fridge itself, I'm not a big fan of the 32" width design.  The shelves on the drawers are narrow, so you can't put 2 one gallon milk jugs side by side like you can in the 36" models.  You can't even put a 1 gallon milk jug next to a 1/2 gallon orange juice carton.  The egg shelf isn't wide enough to hold a standard egg carton, finding a good layout for a tall shelf space is difficult, etc.  So while this is one of the largest volume 33" width fridges on the market, there's a LOT of wasted space.  It's as if they took the good 36" design and just shrank everything by 10%.

I will say that while it's been frustrating, Sears has been helpful in getting things made right.  Having had them attempt to repair it several times within the first 2 months of ownership was good enough for them when we asked for a different model.  The repair guys have been good, and the delivery guys awesome.

Water leaks from water dispenser in door. February 20, 2010
    By andretti9 of Jackson, MI

We purchased this refrigerator in February or 09. Bought it because of the bottom freezer and french doors. All of the appliances we have are from sears. This is the second refrigerator this go round. We had 6 service calls on the first one because the water dispenser in the door leaked after use. A puddle of water would drip for about 2 hours after dispensing water. First service call, service tech says this is a common problem with these LG refrigerators, order a new valve. Second call, replace the valve, still leaked but not as bad. Third call, caulk all the fittings, still leaked. Fourth call, caulk more fittings. Fifth call, told to replace self piercing water shutoff with one that has 1/4" hole drilled in pipe. Also water preasure may be to low. Now water preasure is not an issue because I have well water and my preasure switch was set at 38 psi on and 58 psi off. Replace shut off and adjusted water preasure a little higher. Sixth call, Did nothing because the service tech said there was nothing else that could be done. In all these calls the techs ran water in a clear glass to see if the water had air in it. None observed said the tech.Called service, and they replaced the refrigerator.

Now the new refrigerator. Same problem except about 2x worse leak than old refrigerator. Called service again, now they claim it's air in the water. I don't buy that. With all the research and testing done on these product, that should not even be a possibility even if there was air in the water. Replaced valve again. No change. I would have rather kept the old refrigerator because they had reduced the leak considerably.

The design of the water dispensing system is poor at best. The valve is in the lower corner in the rear. Water lines go up the back, through a filter, down to a coil in the lower back behind the crisper, back up and through the wall to the door to the dispenser. There should be a valve right above the dispenser to shut off the water flow. I am very disapointed with this refrigerator considering the cost. I went with the Elite model figuring it was the best refrigerator. I am now faced with calling service again. Would not recommend this refrigerator. Any one else with same problem?

What you see is not what you get, false advertisment August 30, 2009
    By ChildoftheKing of Wallkill, NY
    Cons:
Make sure you get what is in the picture, disappointment

The refriderator I ordered did not come with what is featured on the internet. model 78344 /Bisque color. I did not get a snack/deli drawer, the hideaway drawer, the extra drawer on the left side or the yogurt keeper on the right side. I made several calls to the service the department. They even sent another refridgerator which turned out to be the same fridge. Finally, a supervisor said "Sears did not make this refriderator and it was made by  LGElectronics Us, Inc. Accordling to her SEARS did not purchase what is shown on the internet. This is false advertisement. She said: Sears is not responsible because the have a disclaimer. The fridge is beautiful. My complaint is with not getting what I paid for. This should have been indicated when I ordered. I came to Sears because of my family's longtime committment to this store. I am so disappointed. I will never trust them again.
