Samsung's 23.0 cubic-foot french-door refrigerator is bigger inside, not outside. It's 16% (4 cubic feet) roomier than standard models but stays within the same footprint. That's like adding a mini-fridge to a standard size refrigerator—enough space for 11 extra 6-packs of soda.

The RFG297 also offers Twin Cooling Plus, a technology with professional-grade benefits. Two separate fans cool the fridge and freezer to maintain optimal temperature and humidity. That means no air transfers between compartments, so flavors don't mix and food stays exceptionally fresh.

ENERGY STAR® qualified appliance.

Fancy-looking addition for your kitchen April 05, 2011

I haven't had it long enough to say whether it's reliable but I like it enough already. The fridge on top is a great feature I've never had. The controls are futuristic and minimalist. The ice maker is a bit small but I haven't had any parties to truly test it out. Also, I like the lighting effects upon opening the door...

The Samsung French Door Refrigerator 23 cu.ft. is Disappointing June 29, 2010

This refrigerator came highly recommended but we have been nothing but disappointed.  The icemaker is must be "programmed" and even then you may or may not get ice.  You may get as much as you want or you may just get a few cubes.  It also shoots the ice out all over the floor even with the glass positioned as close as it can get.  Sometimes you get crushed ice when you selected cubed.  The doors don't fit correctly and when we called to have the installer come back out he told us it was supposed to be like that.  I get upset every time the door slams into me when I'm trying to get something out of the refrigerator. They do not stay where you put them.

The design is great and it is very good looking but the problems make it certainly not worth the premium price.  It will be going as soon as possible.

Catastrophic Failure in Less than 12 hours of Use May 04, 2012
    via sears_dot_com
    By 56789 of Milwaukee, WI

I had this refrigerator delivered on a Saturday night, and by Sunday morning, it was making an awful buzzing noise. By Sunday afternoon the freezer stopped working altogether. As a side note, this is the second Samsung refrigerator I have purchased in less than 2 weeks from Sears, as a result of the first one also having multiple catastrophic failures within the first day of owning it. Although they have lots of nifty features, it just doesn't matter if the refrigerator doesn't work. Would NOT recommend this brand to anyone.

Love it!!! Love It!!!! Love It!!! April 27, 2012

After my GE Profile refrigerator of ten (10) years "crapped out" I found myself FORCED to purchase a new refrigerator. It seems that the "cooler fan" in the back of the freezer section burnt out. I called a service technician and he said "no problem". I'll order another one and will be back in two days. He came back, but the new cooler fan did NOT FIT THE ADAPTOR BAR that it bolted onto so he said he would order another one and again, return in two days. He ordered another one and again, it did not fit. It seems that GE DISCONTINUED THAT SHAPE OF FAN . I called another technician just to make sure that the part was unavailable. He, too, could not get the proper cooler fan so he could not fix the frig. I contacted GE directly and was told that the part was "redesigned" and that shape fan was no longer available. I WAS FORCED TO PURCHASE A NEW REFRIGERATOR BECAUSE GE DID NOT HAVE THAT PART. There was nothing wrong with the compressor, the frig looked like new, but no one could fix it as the newly designed/shaped fan did not fit onto the "adaptor bar". Therefor, my old frig could not "cool". I am still fighting with GE as I think it is absurd to discontinue a part after only ten years use without keeping a stock of parts for future customers' needs. Who buys a new $3,000 frig after only ten years use?? (I have a 1956 Philco that has never needed service and is still working. I store soda, beer and water in it and holiday food "overflow". ANYWAY, after extensive research, I purchased this Samsung shallow depth french door refrig. And I love it!!! It is so quiet, I have to stop and "listen for it" to make sure it is working. Yes, the ice maker makes a noise when it "drops" ice into the reserve bucket, but I think that is only natural, especially if the ice bucket is not full. And if you "pull your glass away" from the water and ice dispenser too quickly, naturally you might have some "spillage"! Of all the reviews that I have read on this refrig, I chalk up the negatives to "not using common sense" . I did call the serviceman once because the blue light on the door panel marked "filter" did not go out. I was told that it is NOT SUPPOSED TO GO OUT and stays blue until the filter starts to get "clogged" and then changes color to indicate it needs changing. But that was not the fault of the refrigerator, it was the fault of the Book of Directions because no where does it say that the filter light stays on. My only pet peeve with this stainless steel frig is that MY REFRIG MAGNETS DO NOT STICK TO THE DOOR, but that will happen with any stainless steel refrig. Now I have to find a new place to store my magnets. This refrig has everything that the Kenmore Elite (top of the line) refrig has only its about $1,000 cheaper!!! . And, there was absolutely no problem 'LEVELING" the refrigerator. Don't people know how to "adjust" the feet??? My refrig is perfectly level!! No problem! The deliverymen were extremely careful when bringing it into my house, and believe me, it was a tight squeeze!! Lastly, I LOVE the "hinged" shelf that swings up sideways to accomodate an occasional tall bottle of wine - something most frig's don't have (the shelf, not the wine.!) Love my new refrigerator! April 09, 2012
    via user
    By TheLadyPlatinum of Rineyville, KY

I needed a counter-depth refrigerator to allow me ease of movement through the kitchen when we remodeled and I have not been disappointed. The bottom freezer allows the French door setup to give me access to all cold items without having to bend over and search. I don't need to access frozen items as often, but they are still easy to find in the partitioned freezer drawer. Thoughtful design utilizes ALL nooks and crannies to maximize storage on the doors. One questionable design is the full width drawer - it's great for storage, but both doors have to be open to access it. Perhaps 2 single drawers might have been more efficient, though I don't dislike the nice wide space! The unit is soooo quiet, quite a nice change from my last 2 refrigerators! The alarm feature that sounds if a door is left open has been helpful twice. It is a pleasant chime, not annoying in the least. It took me a few minutes the first time it sounded to recognize what it was. And though this is only cosmetic, who wouldn't love the soft blue lighting! I highly recommend this refrigerator if you don't have room for a deeper model. A large family might not have ample storage space, but for me and my husband, it is perfect!

Dont get what you pay for March 11, 2012

We chose this refrigerator for its style, as well as its reviews. We have had it for 3 years. Within the first year (warranty still valid) the ice machine broke into pieces. The repair man said this was a bad design & he had seen the problem in other samsungs. One year after the repair (out of warranty) same thing happened again. At the 2 year mark the thermometer gauge went out. We can no longer control the temperature of the fridge or freezer. This is not something I will ever buy again.
