Gift for my mother at Christmas - Novel Black - Color eReader January 18, 2011

I set this up for my 82 year old mother. She loves pulling her e-mail on it and has now downloaded (had me download) three books for her and she seems to be enjoying it. I think it is very easy to use and now navigate through it with the pad of my finger - not even needing fingernail or stylus to get to where I want. I did alot of comparing and shopping for this product and find it to be so similar to the Nook that I wonder if Pandigital makes the Nook for B&N. I was cautioned by several folks to not get the color, but find that color makes the experience more enjoyable.

Bugs, bugs, and more bugs December 29, 2010

Although I like what this reader has to offer, I have had nothing but problems with it. The touch-screen is very difficult to use - it is either so touchy that things pop up you didn't want, or you're pressing so hard that you feel like you're about to push the stylus through the screen. You can change pages using your fingernails and I found this to be the easiest way to go about things. Any slight tilt of the reader changes the view orientation and there is no way to lock it into place (I think there is, but the one on mine doesn't work). The screen doesn't do well in direct sunlight - you lose the page. Mine has an awesome habit of refusing to turn off or refusing to turn on when it is off. I know there is a firmware upgrade out there to download, but I was not able to download it. I was told by the program that the S/N on my Novel didn't match the one the system had found. It would attempt to download using the S/N it thought I had and then would, not surprisingly, crash. Downloading from the B&N website was very very easy. It loaded webpages very quickly as well, and was pretty easy to use. I loved the night light version of reading it offered. I'm going to try the firmware upgrade again because I really don't want to have to return this; I really like what it has to offer.

Excellent choice for the price December 28, 2011

    Pros:
    great for the price

Although this tablet has the capacity to support ****** Marketplace and app downloads, it will not support Flash products. This means, no youtube or other apps that require it. Considering that it was purchased for my 6 yr old to in order to give her the kind of tech that her father and I use but keep cost down, it works perfectly. She is able to play certain games and apps like solitaire, hangman and even Pandora. It has Kindle so she is able to download books and read them with ease. She has added all of her favorite music and videos to an SD and gets a kick out of using the stand to go 'hands-free'. Pros = good value Con = unable to figure out how to download apps directly to SD card instead of Novel memory (there is very little).

    Pros:
great for the price,Really nice color screen,Loads books at a decent rate

I ordered this for a Christmas present for my granddaughter and must admit that I am pleasantly surprised. She will love this. Of course, I have checked it out to make sure it connects to my wireless network. It also has the capability of email access, downloading video, music, ebooks. It looks really sturdy for a fraction of the cost of a Kindle. At this time, I don't have any cons to state because it is still pretty new.

I got this for my husband for his birthday and he has not stopped raving about it. He says it's the best present I ever got him. He travels ALOT, so this comes in really handy, not just for reading in the airport, hotels etc, but it's a tablet also, so he has the calander, e-mail, aps...everything in one place....

Pandigital 7" Color Multimedia eReader March 15, 2011

    Pros:
Really nice color screen, easy to read
    Cons:
Hard to turn pages on books,a little slow at loading books,Slow, hard to get the enternet to work.,Not user-friendly

The Pandigital is easy on the eyes; great color, contrast, however, it's not all that user-friendly. I'm no computer whiz and I believe they need to take into consideration, the older generation. I know many seniors who would like to own one of these but they're uncertain as to whether they could use it efficiently. I'm there, I know.

My first purchase was a Kendall and I discovered that I didn't have wi-fi so I sent it back. This was a gift for a birthday and I couldn't send it back without hurting my husband's feelings. I kept it, had a wi-fi router installed and still Im having problems. Also, when I order a book I'd like to get it in a short time. B &N took almost 24 hours to get my first book to me. I think I'll be going elsewhere. They cost a lot of $$$ too.

    Thanks for listening.
