Nice visual for good price January 20, 2009
I've compared this blu ray player with a Sony Playstation 3. Visually the picture is no different. I've updated the firm ware on this player. The procedure is very simple. Download a file to a blank usb flash drive. Plug it in the back of the player when there is no disc in and the system will proceed to update. It took less than 5 minutes. I have a samsung tv that is a primary reason I bought this player (and the value). The tv and the player integrate well. I can use either remote. The only reason I did not rate this a 5 is because it does have a tendency to get warm. Apparently it doesn't have a good cooling system. So far after 3 months of regular use I've had no issues. Keep this one in mind if your moving to blu ray, especially if you already have a samsung set.

The first one i got i had to return because it kept freezing and being loud. I got the same one in exchange. I spent an hour on the phone with customer support because it wouldn't connect to the internet and update the firmware. I couldnt even watch a movie on it until it is updated. they finally told me it was my network card and I would have to send it in. it would take 14-21 days for them to fix it. No thanks!!! I'm returning it and going with another product.

Love the fact that the player has Pandora and You tube functionality. The parental controls are not as intuitve giving only a rating number to chose from but does not explain what the rating means. Also, turning off the parental locks when a movie is inserted is not so simple. Picture quality is great though and I would still highly recommend this player

Being a new technology and the standards not being completely "ironed out", the Samsung worked well. I had one glitch when I forwarded a chapter in "Iron Man", the timing of audio and video was off. A quick restart solved that problem. Samsung puts out frequent firmware updates to this unit which solves errors and adds functionality in some cases. Overall, I'm very pleased with it.
