family orientedGreat for my games, for football, or any high definition broadcast makes you feel like it is a window instead of a TV screen. Easy to setup
I recommend, you will enjoy it
I spent over 9 months researching, analyzing and reviewing all 40" to 47" TV's, and I finally settled on this one. This was not easy considering I am a career electronic engineer and miser. I spent $1399 on sale, although it was available elsewhere for less. I still consider it a great value for several reasons. First, I could add this purchase to other Sears purchases on our In-home service plan. Second, could go to the store and compare all the brands/models on my short list. Third, I was able to make an immediate purchase and pick up to avoid any shipping issues, like damaged or wrong merchandise. Finally, I had a face and name to hold accountable had I been dissatisfied with the purchase. Fortunately, I was extremely satisfied with this purchase, and consider this value well worth the additional 10% higher price. As for the TV it has an excellent HD picture, and a equally impressive SD picture. The HD picture is almost 3D like, where the images seem to pop right off the screen or pull you into the setting....WOW! This model has surround sound 5.1 which I connected to my Sony 5.1 surround sound system AV receiver. The standard down facing speakers seem adequate for standard Cable or in my case Verizon FIOS, however, for true Cinema experience I love the surround sound. A pleasant surprise was the extra widget features when you access the Internet, which I personally have yet to connect, but the set is capable of hooking up to a PC or network for access. The remote and menus I found very user friendly, and the manual easy to understand. For those that do not like weighing through the heavier manual there is a quick start guide. Connections are adequate and easy for stand or wall mount. The only thing it did not have which might be useful to others is the SD Memory port. It does have a USB port however. Other models I considered were the Toshiba REGAZA or the Sony XBR, but my neighbor had audio issues on the Sony 47" with the Verizon FIOS. It could be because that model has an auto leveling feature on the audio which could be causing his audio to drop out from time to time. The techs at Verizon and Sony said it was an processor technology or protocol bug. So I avoided any models with that feature. I bought it for Christmas and watched it for two weeks without any noticable quirks. The Toshiba has a pseudo 240Hz motion for picture quality, and I also considered a LED Samsung, but for the money I could not have a better picture unless I went Plasma. Plasma however has some other issues I was not willing to risk. Primarily, power consumption and system reliability. Although, our environment may preclude any reflection problems plasma, this model has a wide viewing angle and excellent color. Spite the Consumer Report comments on the average black in dark scenes, I did not notice any discrepancies and feel the black is comparable to plasma pictures. You may have to adjust the picture controls for your particular environment, but I found the factory settings adequate for our livingroom. That still did not keep me from playing with all the controls however. I am not a gamer, but I am sure most gamers would be satisfied with this model for the eye poping color and bright images. All the featured controls seem to have plenty of range for adjustment. I feel I got the best deal for the money and would highly recommend this model to anyone.
I brought this TV this month as a belated birthday gift. This is the best gift that I ever treated myself to. The picture is so nice, I never thought I could get a TV picture so clear and crisp. I would recommend this TV. I'm looking forward to many evenings of watching movies and sports on this TV.
