We are really enjoying the Samsung TV. I did a lot of research and it came down to Sony and Samsung. Samsung won and we are very happy. It was a breeze to hook up and get working. I had one issue with a VHS player for the kids and called Samsung, A very pleasant easy to understand woman walked me right through it and in 5 minutes EVERYTHING is now working great. The only con will be it needs more ports on the back for some of the older equipment people have. Otherwise. Plug it in and enjoy it.

Incredible, Get One Now! A+++ December 08, 2009

As a professional web designer and IT solutions manager I use technology to the max.  After years of working with all of the major brands, I have always found Samsung to win hands down, every time.  They make the best stuff, period.  The color found in their TV's and computer monitors, their cell phones, everything, that I have owned from Samsung has outlasted Sony, LG, Sharp, Panasonic, Toshiba, Motorola, you name it.

I had been desiring a 1080p television for about a year, and I happened to walk into Sears when visiting the mall with my family the day before Thanksgiving (2009) and went to the TV section.  I had seen this model of TV in the commercials and thought that would be cool to have a TV that is about 1 inch thick, but never thought I would actually get one.  After standing in front of this TV for about 10 minutes it was clear it was more than just a slim TV.

Reasons I bought:

1. 3,000,000:1 contrast ratio.  Yes 3,000,000:1 - This TV has better color since it's an LED-LCD (new model type) than the traditional LCD and Plasma TV's of yesterday.

2. LED TV so it uses 40% less power than LCD and Plasma TV's

3. Samsung quality, thin tv, 55 inches, 1080p, 120hz refresh rate which makes everything look like real life!

4. Price - Reduced from $3300 to $2469, then I opened a Sears card and got an additional 10% off of that price

Overall do not hesitate to get this TV if you're on the fence about it.  Yes there are 1080p TV's out there for less money, but their picture quality and overall build quality are far less impressive than this Samsung!

Best Pic, Color & options, but one slight flaw! September 26, 2009

This is my 2nd Samsung HDTV.  I have had excellent experience with both models and I will continue to only buy Samsung. I don't exclude my Samsung only purchasing to just TVs either! Most of our electronics and appliances are Samsung, because of their high quality.

This TV exhibits very clear HD and SD pictures. It has very deep dark colors and very vivid brights.  The sound is very rich for how small the speakers are, though I would recommend an added sound system.  The motion blurs are very minimal even at 60Hz, however the upscaling 120Hz causes an odd "soap opera" effect to any non HD programing and a slight "soap opera" effect to HD programing.  If the footage was shot in a 120Hz type of format then it seems to be fine. The "soap opera" effect may turn off a lot of buyers.  We almost returned ours for that very reason.  Don't worry we learned that you can go into the picture options/advanced/120Hz settings and turn the feature up, down or off.  We have turned ours off and we like the picture a lot better.  You may be wondering what is the "soap opera" effect? Well it makes every show look like a soap set or as if you are watching a play in a theatre.  The people seem to pop out and float on the back ground of the picture. It's a very odd plastic feel. However, some people may like their shows to look like a soap opera all the time. 

The next issue is the back light.  When a picture goes all black you can see the LEDs illuminating from the four corners of the screen.  I hope there is a software up date soon to fix it. I noticed that if we turned down the brightness a tad it minimized it, but it's still there you can see it flick on and off.  This happens when a movie starts or goes into a very dark seen.  The LED 7000 series does not do this for some reason it's only on the 6000 series. I'm also not too keen on the maroon/red color... what happened to the digital blue?

Video games are absolutely breath taking. I had no idea Halo had so many colors and so much detail in it and I've been playing it previously on an HDTV!!! It was so over whelming it took me a day of playing to get used to all the extra POP in the game to be able to play it well!

The best feature of the TV is it's ability to play AVI, XviD, DIVIX and other video formats! You play the videos through one of it's two USB ports. I have downloaded tons of movies through torrents and watched them in good clarity through my TV. Most ripped movies are in AVI, Xvid or VIVIX so there is no need for additional formatting. Just download and play your pirated media! It's so awesome! It also displays photos, songs, etc through the same USB media! Demonoid.com and ************.org are going to become my best friends!

The menu system is the clearest to see, understand and navigate out of any menu system for any other TV in the world! Samsung put a lot of thought and intuitiveness into their menu system.  Any computer skill level user will be able to navigate and understand their TV options.  I say computer skill level, because this TV is like a mini computer.

The TV has the option to plug into the internet to get weather, stocks and top news right on the screen in little widgets/gadgets. It also keeps it's self updated with the latest software.  Once again well thought out. The 7000 series also gets Blockbuster movie streaming, Pandora Radio and some other features.  Even though the 6000 series internet options are stripped down I still find them useful and a nice added bonus to an already great TV.

Even with it's back light flaw I would still buy this TV again! It's amazing! 

I recommend this especially if its going to be in your game room for sports and video games.
