Quality Product February 13, 2009

Researched, compared and shopped several brands... narrowed it down to Sony or Samsung. Both have same technical capabilities, but the Samsung package was designed better and the picture quality in HD is excellent. Better than Sony. Set up was easy. Had some problems with cable service. Bad box, go figure. Look around and take your time when shopping for a new TV and you will definately like Samsung and the price.

Good pic but shut off for no reason February 16, 2009

I got this great TV 3 days ago, HD was fantastic...but on the 3rd day, the TV just turned off by itself......Reason? who knows...we did not have any electric power surge in the area and the TV is not near any home heat source..I even put in fresh batteries in remote..CANNOT turn TV on!!!!! Read the manual and no help... Even though I had purchased an extended warranty, there was no reason to have a tech. repair the TV.. Under store policy, I simply returned TV to store for complete refund... Obviously, there was a component failure..I got a great price at Sears and they have a no hassle 30 day return policy...I do highly recommend this TV except for this unique problem..

this tv was what is needed to complete my on line home theater system my computer ,blueray,i phone and i pod all wire in to the tv for a 46" hd monitor and movie screen .it was a long time messing with difrent sreens and all came together with this purchase to bring it all together its a must for anyone who wants to use the internet to its full use for home innertainment.netfix,hulu,xbox live,movies,surfing, its all i wanted and brought together with this tv

Pros:

Easy to hookup,Picture Quality

You can't beat the picture quality (although mine has 1 bright pixel). I am disappointed with the fact that the TV has a useless PIP. The only way to use PIP is to have a cable screwed into the back of the TV. Everyone I know has a box hooked to there TV (they call them HD for a reason). If I had it to do over again, I wouldn't purchase this TV just for this simple fact. Even the lower line Vizio Tv's have PIP where you can switch the component of the PIP. The frame surrounding the picture scratches very, very easily. Plain and simple: For the $, I expected the best.

Utilized the superbowl sale and Sears additional rebate so the price was to good to pass up for the 800 series. This was a pre January build so hit had the IR interference issue. This was fixed right away by a Samsung tech and we've had no issues concerning picture quality. Really glad we went with a 46" over a 42". Picture quality is fantastic, we also purchased the USB info option and after use could have done without that. We have a DVD player that upconverts and just "wow" and Blue-Ray is even better. If you just have to have first generation LED backlight then go for a 900 series but this 800 series display is great.
