The LC-52LE700UN again illustrates Sharps LCD technology leadership while also demonstrating its LED engineering advantages. Sharps UltraBrilliant LED system illuminates the TV to extremely high brightness and contrast levels and enables significant environmental benefits such as longer life expectancy, no heavy metals and lower power consumption. At the same time, the new XGen LCD Panel utilizes an ingeniously devised pixel design that permits more light to pass through even while minimizing light leakage, with the result being the deepest black levels that AQUOS has ever achieved.

Amazing LED, colors are incredibly accurate November 21, 2009

When I first heard that Sharp was coming out with an LED TV I was skeptical. After seeing the panel and testing the fit and finish--I was impressed. The panel is incredibly clear and colors are so vibrant, they truly stand out. Price is great for an LED, especially for a local dimming LED TV, Do not waste this tv on standard tv, HD, preferably Blu-ray is an absolute must. I would highly recommend it for the picture alone.

Pretty nice panel, but they're all defective so far March 28, 2010

I bought 3 of these panels from Sears, and they all exhibit light diagonal banding on certain mid to mid-dark level colors when viewed off angle by a few degrees (I mean literally 2-3 degrees off center, so you see it on the sides of the TV when sitting dead center).  You will probably not notice this during most regular viewing, but it does show up from time to time and is completely unacceptable on any LCD panel.

Note that these are all A panels that were build around November 2009.  There are B panels out there, so one may have better luck with those.  I am working with Sharp to repair one of these panels, but am not optimistic at this point and may end up returning the last panel towards the end of the 30 day return window.

The panel gets 1 star due to these consistent defects, otherwise it would get 4 or 5 stars.

Sharp Aquow LC52LE700UN 52" LCD LED TV August 23, 2010

Pros:
Clear,Energy Efficient,High Contrast Ratio,Vibrant,Bright Picture

I had a rear projection 50" Sony that was hard to see in the daytime.  The Sharp LCD LED TV is easily viewed in my living room in daytime lighting.  I have the brightness and contrast controls set only slightly above the mid point.  At the time I bought this TV it was priced lower than a 46" LED Samsung so I feel I got a good quality TV for the price.

A really nice TV. GET ONE OR TWO! April 04, 2010

Pros:
Clear,Energy Efficient,High Contrast Ratio,Vibrant

Sharp has always made a good TV, going way back to the 80's was my first Sharp set and yes, it was a good ole tube set we bought for our kitchen... it was the best looking picture in the house back then.

That tradition continues today.   I have here two Plazma sets,  Three LCD sets,   One DLP HD projector, and of course, this new Sharp LED set.

THe picture is razor sharp,   and like most sets,  the contrast is default set too high, the Color is too intense and this "showroom" look is easily adjusted by backing down a bit on both settings.     All TV's come this way,  I suppose each manufacturer is worried that in a showroom their reds might not be as intense, or the blues not as deep, so all of them over do this setting.   Making this correction, this set looks better than my Plazma and is equal or better than my LCD sets...   not by a mile, but just enough to let me know this set is right on target.

The user pimmmm of Aurora IL reports a diagonal banding problem.   I haven't noticed it yet on this set but what he is reporting is unfortunately something that can happen on ALL HDTV sets.    It is not unique to Sharp and it only happens during some specific moments the screen on a HDTV set may create a digital HD grainy look.    It is an artifact I believe from the ultra high detail in the HDTV signal.   My first HDTV Set did this,  so did my 2nd and 3rd, and I've seen this in all of them except it has never occured in either of my Plazma Sets.   I expect the Sharp will exhibit it as well and once you know it is something that just happens from time to time,  forget about it.  It's a brief thing and you usually won't notice it unless you are watching "the set" rather than "the program".  Backing down on sharpness can minimize or even eliminate it.   You might see it for example if a news caster guy were to wear a tight checkerboard shirt or some other tight pattern.   It is just one of those things that is part of the HDTV experience for the most part and unless you are like me..   you tend to crank up the sharpness setting to max,  it'd doubtfull you will even notice it.    At leas that is what I believe Pimmmm is seeing.

I wish I were a Very Rich man and I would sell all my sets except the DLP Projector and replace them all with Sharps LED backlit technology.   These sets are very low power consumption and produce little to no noticable heat.   They have a 100,000 hour lamp life and they are  lightweight.   This set I could lift into it's hangar above my fireplace hearth in the bedroom whereas non of the other sets could I do this myself.

I have never had an early failure on any Sharp product I've owned and all of them have outlasted my needs.   I expect the same with this one.

Don't get caught up in all the reviews and get so emotional about your research that you miss getting this set while it is so attractively priced.   I'm 100% glad that I "impulse bought it" and would do it again.
