Great Value June 28, 2009
Image quality is bright and vivid, with tremendous detail and excellent color. Deep blacks are rendered quite well, and those who like to tweak the image will be very pleased--there are a multitude of adjustments available, some of which would have only been found on the rear service panel (or hidden service menu) of older CRT sets. Channel changes are fairly quick--most welcome compared to a recently purchased 19" LCD set from another manufacturer (that 19" set takes 4-5 seconds to tune to another channel, the Samsung takes roughly 1/2 a second). There are modes for filling the 16 x 9 viewing area when watching an SDTV source, but image degredation is very noticeable when using those modes. I'll stick with 4 x 3 instead. Audio quality is surprisingly good for a set with such a slender cabinet. There certainly cannot be a lot of room inside for speakers, but I can live with the sound that the Samsung reproduces most of the time, even though it is also hooked up to a stereo. The glossy black cabinet is very attractive, but I'm beginning to wish that it had a matte finish instead. Depending upon the time of day in the viewing area, sunlight hits and reflects off of that glossy finish. In fairness, I'll have to admit that this is far less objectionable than the Panasonic CRT that was previously in this location, as that set's screen was glossy. At least the Samsung's screen has a matte finish. If you're like I am, and have one or more components that utilize S-Video, be warned in advance that Samsung has chosen not to include that connector in this model. I failed to take this into consideration upon purchase, and it prolonged what would have otherwise been a simple 15 minute setup. My system had to be partly rewired, and a DVD player had to be moved, to function properly with the new Samsung. Overall, though, I'm extremely happy with this new purchase. It may not have all of the bells, whistles, and connectors of a more expensive set, but Samsung has packed a ton of technology into a very slender and economical package.

Fantastic picture but would not turn on after the first week. December 05, 2009
I bought this television on Black Friday and loved it until the following Friday when it would not turn on. The power light would just blink and the television would not turn on. After several times of unplugging and plugging the power cord I did manage to get the tv to come back on but as soon as I turned it off I couldn't get it to come back on again. As much as I loved the picture I decided to return the tv. You shouldn't have to struggle to get your television to come on.

Finding the function your looking for is easy and if you still need help there is a help menu in the menu. Picture quality is great and the looks of the cabinet are shiny high gloss piano black. I love it. Good deal at just under $400.

After speaking with several friends I discovered that most xBox games are designed with a 720p native resolution. I was always daunted by the cost of the new 1080p's so discovering this made a world of difference to me in terms of my final decision to purchase.
I'm delighted with the the performace of the Samsung although I do strongly recommend you utiize the available HDMI port when connecting to the xBox. I tried both the standard port and the HDMI port and the difference was remarkable to say the least. I would also caution that two player split screen games really require more acherage than you can get with a 32" screen. Honestly, for a truly rewarding 2 player Halo experience you really need at least a 42" screen. That said, I am almost exclusively a solo player so this configuration works exceptionaly well for me.
The look of this item is very sleak and stylish, the controls are very intuitive and easy to grasp with a little fiddling around, the system is light enough to get into and out of your trunk without assistance, the built in sound is acceptable but some sort of external speaker arrangement is recommended if you really want to feel the explosions, gunfire, and general mayhem that a good xBox game delivers.
