Panasonic TC P54G10 - 54" Class ( 54.1" viewable ) plasma TV - widescreen - 1080p (FullHD) - HDTV
If you demand the best from your viewing experience, the G10 series of plasma HDTV was created just for you. They boast cinema-quality movie reproduction, clear, smooth sports and gaming action - even Web entertainment. All made possible by the Neo PDP technology, which delivers sharp, detailed images, deep blacks and remarkable brightness, and all with lower power consumption.

Bought this Panasonic G10 TV around 2 months ago. I spent several months reading reviews on several TVs and hours in several stores looking at TVs. One thing I can say for Plasma TVs is that in a store, where they turn up the brightness on everything - this TV can look dim but at home it doesn't matter. It is definitely the best TV that I have seen. The picture is very clear and there is no motion blur - jagged edges or anything which is problem with a lot of TVs. It is also very energy efficient for a plasma TV - however, not as efficient as an LCD or LED.
Its got some features like watching youtube directly from the TV and so on, but in reality never really use the features after the initial thrill of having the features.
The black levels are exceptional but there is a slight variation in secondary colors - particularly the green in some lights. However, its marginal and most people wont notice it.
Overall - would definitely recommend it.

In my experience the plasma has been a failing technology. Proof would be that the largest plasma dealer dropped it. PIONEER. Even with the 600hz the television has a poor picture. It's just an inflated number for people who don't know much about televisions. The plasma tv also weighs three times as much as LCD. Your energy bill will triple due to plasma. They have eliminated burn in but the cost is far greater. It excelerates the life span of the television when you wipe the burn in off with there new method. LCD and LED have continuously upgraded year after year. All plasma did was increase in size. It still produces an immense amount of heat and weighs a ton. The only help you'll get from plasma is tv/heater combo. You can watch and warm up at the same time. If you get plasma, definetly get the protection agreement. Without it, your tv has now become disposable.

See all reviews for this productWe found last years model on clearance and love it. Since we already have a Netflix capable bluray player and a media center pc connects to out system, we didn't see the need for the newer s2 model. So instead of having to settle for the smaller 32" version, we were able to afford the monster 54" that was on cleance.
tech savvyWe wanted to upgrade to a flatscreen TV to mount above our fireplace. I wanted something to watch UK basketball on with the guys, so the Panasonic's 600Hz motion handling capabilities caught my eye.
The picture with a Blueray disc is breathtaking. Regular DVD's are gorgeous. The basketball games are of excellent clarity.
The sound certainly leaves alot to be desired. That's what kept this TV from getting 5 stars. They just don't put quality speakers in these things. Eventually I'll get a nice surround sound system, but for now these speakes will have to do.
The Viera functions are really cool. We can view slide shows of Picasa photos on the TV. This is cool when we have family over and want to have some family pics rolling across the screen. ****** on Demand movies are handy, but now we are using the Netflix Roku and don't pay extra for movies.
Overall it's a great TV with a great picture.
a bargain hunterI have had the TV now for just over 1 month. I will not bore you with my search story. Basically I had boiled it down between this TV, a 52 inch LCD Samsung, and the 55 inch LCD/LED VIZIO. All three in the same price range. My son had purchased the V10 and after seeing it in home then comparing the specs to the G10 and SEARS price, this just seemed to be the best deal out there. The V10 does offer a better anti glare film which could be a factor when deciding on a Plasma screen versus a LCD. I have one point of reflection during the day on the G10, that being a small window in another room (it would in back of the seating area), but I can close a door to resolve that problem. The room I have it in is quite bright (South Florida) and the TV is less than 5 feet from a 9 by 5 front window that faces due east, I have no issues with reflection to the side. The heat issue is always in question, I do not find that this TV in normal to Warm 1 mode produces much more heat than my LCD.
In reading the cons below I would agree on the weight issue however this is a 54 inch TV its not like you would be moving it from room to room. I did set this up and moved it by myself although I would not recommend doing so, help is needed. I'm not sure of power issue, the heat is not an issue on this specific TV, I do have the one reflection but it is not that great an issue, not sure of the energy bill, the true size is comparable (screen dimension) relatively the same as 55 inch lcd, I have read the Green THX issue but for the life of me I don't see it or have any idea what they are referring to, and hopefully I will never have the repair issue.
I have read reviews that the picture settings are limited and sound are issues, but I don't see or hear them. I have also seen reviews that do not show this TV to be THX certified. Not sure when it was reviewed but this model is THX (if that is a factor) and it defaults to this option through VIERA Tools. The picture settings are easily manipulated through the menu and you see your results when making changes.
With the TV hooked up to a PS3 system the Blu Ray experience is truly amazing and by the way, this unit truly upscales your DVD's to a much higher resolution. A pro with this Model hooked up to the PS3 allows me to run the PS3 with the panasonic remote. I know the V10 will not recognize the PS3 to use with the VIERA Link function.
I am a little bit older (58) and my gaming experiences are quite limited however the games I have are displayed with amazing clarity and the sound through a home theater is exceptional. No lag in screen action what so ever (Ratchet & Clank, Lost Planet, The Orange Box, TIger Woods PGA) like I said limited gaming. My comparison is made to the 40 inch Samsung 1080i 60hz with the PS3 not a fair comparison I know, but it is a noticeable difference (with the same cheap HDMI cable).
I have a 40 inch Samsung LCD (4 years) and have had no problems. My reason for purchasing another TV was size, eyes are just not the same anymore.
I have no Cons to list for this TV nor did I have any of the others I looked at, basically for me it came to bang for the buck and to me this filled the bill. As I mentioned above the TV is heavy but I expected that and I can't honestly list that as a con, or can I list the reflection as a con as my old Samsung has a much larger bezel around it and it itself produced more distraction with reflection than the G10. When I was shopping for TV's I did find it extremely hard to find this model for viewing, I was limited to comparing LCD, LCD/LED (way out of my price range), and 720 dpi plasma's. In the stores the plasma's did not seem as bright and seemed to have a softer picture. However when I got this TV and compared in home I honestly do not see it. I have direct satellite so most viewing is done in 1080i and between the Samsung and G10 I do like the look of the G10 much better.
In closing my experience purchasing through SEARS was remarkable. I ordered this TV on a Sunday and low and behold it was sitting in my living room at 10 am the NEXT day.
Thank you SEARS
tech savvyIncredible blacks and colors..
No pixelation like LCD or white out or black outs.. like you get on LCDs.
Sports and other fast action is great. You can see very nice details in shadows/black but also in the whites.
Would recommend to other to get. We have had the TV for 1 month. I haven't had any issues with the TV so far. Go big if you can.. I was going to get the G10 50 Inch but for the extra $240 the 4 inches make a big difference. Purchased online and picked up at the store. With easy of mind knowing that I transported it versus some unreliable shipping company. The first TV we bought from Panasonicdirect showed up smashed... because the shipper rolled it like domino end over end.
